For some reason or another, there are some bands out there that, for me, go far beyond just simply bad into the realm of the truly ridiculous. Here are some bands that I consider the most ridiculous, and a brief explanation why:
The Promise Ring - "Emo Pop" sung by a goofy-looking singer with a lisp. Need I say more?
Poison - I feel that with Poison, Hair Metal effectively ceased to be "Rock Music," and simply became a spectacle of glitter and hairspray-soaked men desperately attempting to prove their manhood by screaming about all the cheap skank they get.
Tatu - Two girls whose only selling point is the supposed lesbian homorotica between them. I guess the same thing can be said about Teagan and Sara, though.
Marilyn Manson - I don't know about you, but I don't find a grown man dressing in stupid costumes and doing dumb shit on stage as "scary" or "provocative." I see it as a sad plea for attention.
Blink-182 - So you're not really a punk band, and your "pop" songwriting falls pathetically flat; thank God you've still got your idiotic sense of "humor" to keep us listening.
Ted Nugent - I used to think that Nugent's music was kind of ironic, like intentionally dumb cock rock. But then I found out what he was like in real life, and discovered that "dumb cock rock" is literally the complete summation of his personality.
Matchbox Twenty - You're not "rock," you're not "adult alternative," so please, tell me.............what ARE YOU?
Limp Bizkit - You're white, male, and--despite being completely untalented--rich. What could you possibly have to be angry about?
Buckcherry - I guess even the worst rock music ever needs its revivalists.
Reel Big Fish - Q: What's the sound of ska that doesn't make you happy and want to dance? A: Reel Big Fish.
Nickelback - This one's self-explanatory.
Thursday - The only catharsis and rage they inspire is the kind directed solely at the band.
There are elements of other bands that I find ridiculous or annoying, such as with Guns N Roses, Tool, The Human League, Ween, Throwing Muses, Depeche Mode, King Crimson, Metallica, Christian Death, he Flaming Lips, Devo, Sonic Youth, Beck, The Boredoms, Guided By Voices, Kiss, or Led Zeppelin, but I think that these bands all have redeeming qualities that make them not so bad. Some of these bands I even like. But I can't say the same for the above-mentioned bands; no matter how hard I try, I can't imagine why anyone would in their right mind choose to listen to any of them.
So, what do you guys think are THE MOST RIDICULOUS BANDS EVER? |

| I don't like Coldplay, but they just seem to be too mediocre to be ridiculous. Like that adjective would actually require some distinctive personality from them. |

I didn't say that those bands are ridiculous, just that they have some ridiculous or annoying elements. In fact, Christian Death is one of my all-time favorite bands, but the over the top goth lyrics and Rozz's effeminate vocals can get a little on my nerves at times. |
