 Last comment ha ha Has Joey or Dave had any success outside of the Pixies? Have either started their own band, wrote the songs, sang the songs and successfully had a whole other band outside the P's? With a million-selling album to boot? And two others critically well-received? (esp in the UK who really know their shit.)
And toured to sold out crowds who want to hear HER songs, listen to HER vocals, and her bass AND guitar playing?
That's it. I'm done/finis/kaput.
I love Charles but Kim couldnt take his shit anymore, she dont HAVE to cuz she forged a successful separate career, Joey and Dave dont have a choice; neither has been able to "do it" sans Charles. Kim has. |

The Last Splash album was commercially successful, but has it stood the test of time like the Pixies?
Years ago Thompson did an interview where he was asked how he defined success, "Is it the number of units you sell?" He replied that it depended on how you sold those records. You could sell a million copies this year, and be in the discount bin the next year, or you could sell fifty thousand copies every year, for twenty years, and that said a lot more about you as an artist. That was very prescient of him.
Kim's solo career took off like a bat out of hell, and then quickly flamed-out in a sea of alcohol and dope. The Pixies, on the other hand, have been selling at least fifty thousand units every year, since they albums came out. Years from now, the Pixies will be remembered as the Velvet Underground of the 80s, and the Breeders will be a footnote in alt-rock history. |

| Simibaby---none of us know what's going on with them. Even interviews, etc. just offer some information but most relationships, be it in a band or otherwise, are way more complex. Joey has been in the Martinis an the Everybody and has done scoring. Dave became a magician. In the Pixies, they seem to be happy playing Frank's songs; it's not a competition as you frame it. |

You are probably right, but the internet is a harsh place and if you want to litter it with smug/obnoxious/dickish posts (like in the Kim leaving the Pixies thread), you have to be able to take something back.
I do, however, feel dirty for contributing to this thread's status as the nadir of this forum. |

Hi, guys! I know I say some (mostly) crazy shit-sorry. But if you carefully sift thru the crazy, you find alot of my stuff is profound and true. I know I'm sort of a masochist to post on a FB forum and say some of the things I, in my heart, feel. I ADORE Frank, bottom line. That's all. And I want to THANK all of you who post you tube links that are gorgeous! Like the 3-song beaut of that live MTV thing from 1995
with Frank,EDF, LW and NV doing those songs from TOTY. Love you all.
BTW (ithink i've mentioned thjis before but maybe not: I AM a female, 30 yrs and 9 mos old. (NOT 14 or 16, tho i might come across like that...sorry. BTW # 2...are there ANY other females regularly here? I'm startinf to feel.....i dont know. Love youse!
