i like it. anybody else? if so, what's your fave?

tried a couple o bruidladdachs tonight. pretty darn good. but i normally like the Islay Scotcheses.....

my maternal grandad owned the bowmore hotel so i'm a little partial to the Islay scoches.

funny story, i e-mailed the current owner of the Bowmore Hotel about staying there and mentioned that my g-grandad used to own it and my g-grandma passed away there and my mom and aunt were born there and the e-mail response was "oh you must be granny weirs grandson, we've heard a lot about you from ol' maggie". i then asked my mom what my g-grandad's wife was and she said mom was eileen but her mum was Maggie.... crazy shit my g-g-grandma haunts a hotel on Islay!

on a side note. Talisker is awesome...

Talisker and Laphroaig are probably my favourites, love the peaty, medicinal stuff. I like whisky at times, not a huge drinker, just now and again.

Cool story about the Bowmore hotel - no other Maggies in the family?

a friend is a scotch guy. i usually go with what he recommends. Laphroaig is good. i don't usually drink whisky unless i'm at a wedding or work event where there is an open bar with good whisky and it seems like it would be a shame not to. in general if i'm drinking hard stuff i prefer bourbon. whisky is dangerous for me. especially Irish whisky. i prefer to stay out of county jail

i'm more of a beer guy. good beer that is

rereading my post i think i got it fucked up. i'll have to check with my mum. my gran was margaret but she died in glasgow....it must be great great granny that haunts the hotel because i think great gran was named eileen (but now that i think about it it could be anne). i lost all my data from brother's keeper genealogy software so i cant confirm, fack. anyways, i didnt start searching that tree until i heard about the g-g-g-ghooooosts (said like shaggy).

If you are after a good scotch you can't get any better than Black Bottle, it's a blend from Islay, home to a fari few really good single malts. It's the salty water that gives it it's peaty character I believe. As good as Laphroag or Talisker IMO
