Aye.
I was just pondering this and thought if there was a surprise release how soon would it be before it was all over piratebay, and then I thought of a great publicity stunt for a new band that sounds like the Pixies, but they would have to really sound like them a lot, and have someone who could sing like Frank Black and Kim Deal. Promote your new album on piratebay but say it's the new pixies album, then sit back and watch it go viral, and then once your album has been heard by millions of people across the world reveal your true identity.
It worked for No Doubt back in the 90s when everyone thought it was Madonna's new band, and they aren't even that good. I quite liked some of Gwyneth Fannycramps solo records though.

The Arcade Fire manager listening to the new album got me thinking. I hope Pixies do something similar to MBV and suddenly release it online one night without much announcement. Dunno if 4AD would be into such a move but I reckon it'd be cooler than hearing it via a leak weeks before any official release.
(This is all assuming there is such a thing in the pipeline. But regardless of what Fissile says there does seem to be a strong chance of it happening.) |

| This sort of thing is just wrong! After the initial chuckle I recall my disdain for Rick Ghastly. This whole fad has apparently kick started a revival - this is what happens when you feed evil! Having to suffer the Ghastly one in the 80's was one thing, now his name has been chanted enough times and his evil tune played more times than the total world debt figure we have summoned the beast - the Mayans had nothing on this creep! I recall watching a 'live' broadcast kids tv show when i was a kid myself and the Ghastly one was a guest performing his evil in front of a nation of non suspecting kids. In an attempt to save myself from the evil I changed channel to another 'live' broadcast kids show and to my horror the Ghastly one was there too! How could this be!? Knowing that my tv wouldnt lie about something being live when it wasnt, the only rational explanation is that the Ghastly one has clones. A full army of evil ready to strike when the time is right - and my friends, im sorry for we have fed the beast. |

That's the bands name, there is no "The" in their name. It's always just been Pixies. |
