I think I did state earlier that in order to make the game work a bit better you could post also bands/artists who were an influence on the Pixies sound.

Erm I think I also mentioned somewhere something about alphabetical order as well...
I think we're on T now.
Fuck it, this should be under C but since they are such a spectacularly brilliant band- THE CHAP

p.s. their new album is brilliant, my outright favourite of the year so far. Also apparently Art Brut's favourite new band according to twitter. |

Yes I have one for W, but for some reason I stupidly thought we were on X... duh
I guess X is a hard one so we can make that a blank where you can name any band. There is of course The XX, who I don't like, and I don't know if you could compare them to the Pixies.
I think there is a pretty obvious one for Y, actually I have two for Y but imma keep them. |

Maybe the Pixies were loosely influenced by the 80's band X from Los Angeles. Their formula was more Punk/Country sounding but they had the Male/Female sharing vocals thing going on. Well, Charles didn't share too much vocals did he. That's the best I've got for X.

There was a time when I used to love them. Mid to late 80's. They have been out of my rotation for 20 years. I have a few CD's and a couple cassettes and I wanted to try to get back into them again so instead of finding those I went to my local libray (where I get most of my music nowadays) and took out Beyond and Back: The X Anthology double CD. Listening to it just wasn't the same for me today. It happened again last week when I took out The Ramones' Hey! Ho! Let's Go: The Anthology and I just couldn't getting into the music again. I do remember my favorite album from X was More Fun in the New World. Which I think was also there breakthrough album/chart topper. I know my heart is gonna be broken again as I wait for the library get me their copy of the Scorpions' Tokyo Tapes Live 1978. I have that in album form but havn't listened to any of my LP's since the mid 80's. quote: Originally posted by hammerhands

Queens of Stone Age one of most awful band in world. How can compare with Pixies? Their sound about as original as my scrotum sack. |
