I would prefer this to a new Pixies album! Though I'd be happy with either.

My first post on the forum :)
First of all, sorry for any mistakes, I am from Poland so english is quite difficult for me.
Few words about myself: I was born in late sixties in a small town in Poland. That's way I had a chance to listen to the Pixies' music only then in nineties after Pixies broke up (It was a great emotion for me which last for these days). I was unhappy that I had no possibilities to see them live by then. After the reunion I could buy the the first DVD with show which was great and give me opportunity to watch my favourite band (before, there was no chance to buy in Poland anything e.g. show from London 1988) - obviously I could find a lot of stuff on You tube but it is not the same as full show with a high quaility sound. Still I regret that there is no any information about European tour, close to Poland.
When I think about Pixies and new album I have got an impression that it would be great if happened. I am also sure that new songs had to be little bit "different" than everything Pixies wrote. Bam Thwok is a quite good example how it could be done.
Uff, it was quite hard for me to write what I think about it and sorry if this post is too long.

1 There must be a new pixies album. Reunion bands stink.
2 The new album won't blow anyone's mind. They did the mind blowing thing 20 years ago. Bunuel did one Chien Andalou, then some really good stuff but not that mind blowing. When Dali called him to do "Un Chien Andalou 2", Luis said "The water just flows one time under the bridge".
3 Life must goes on, even in the rock n roll world! I like the fact that "I'm you man" exists, even if I dont really think it's a good record. Kim Deal is a bit too serious about music. If you're a boring 40 something, just do a boring 40 something record and it will be artisticaly alright.

Is it really universally accepted that 'Bam Thwok' sucks? The other day I read something about the Pixies being mocked by how bad this song is, and what it suggests a new album would be like.

It's not mind blowing or anything, but I really like the song, even if it is just a pop song. I'd be happy just to have enough of this stuff on a new album. Joey's guitar on songs written by Frank Black or Kim Deal, that would be great.

And 'Ain't that pretty at all' is a nice example of how great it could be. They almost made that song theirs.
