Ok...streaming Pandora.com at work. DOWN TO THE WELL comes on...but it's different and weird! It's a studio recording, but a slightly different version...unless I've just gone totally crackers! Very strange! And Pandora did'nt offer any info on the track except that it was on Bossanova. Any clues?

There's a demo on the compilation "Pixies" which is from the same sessions as Come on Pilgrim. There is also a live-in-studio version on the BBC disc. Hope that helps!

I've heard those. This is different. Is the MINOTAUR stuff remastered? Could that be it? A different mix? It was definately from the BOSSANOVA studio, but cleaner, clearer, brighter, louder, and seeming slightly different...

Very interesting...

I don't think any work was done on 'Minotaur', although it would have been welcome!

Probably just the effects of a lower bit rate, or their EQ settings maybe?

Trust me, the remastered bossanova sounds exactly the same.

Champ, you're probably correct. But trust me...I've KNOWN the song VERY well for 20 years. It is most likely the same version, but it sounded SOOOO different at the same time. Crazy. I don't know why it's bothering me so much.
