Christiane F.- Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo, Heroes - Bowie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hxJGcxgA1Y (a little less fond of his German singing. he could probably leave that to Germans)
chilling to find out she's still fighting the addiction after 30 years |

Tomorrow Belongs To Me - Kander & Ebb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs5bnVoZK4Q
Though Fosse missed a trick not having the needle scratch wildly across the vinyl at the end of this one. The fade out's just plain dumb.

John Williams - The Imperial March (Empire Strikes Back)
For non-classic music? There have been a few moments where I was struck by the power of the song to emphasize the movie. Aside from Santa Esmeralda in Kill Bill the one that most comes to mind:
Muse - Feeling Good (Seven Pounds)
"Now you're officially my woman. Kudos. I can't say I don't envy you." |

Toadies covering 'I'm Not In Love' by the Talking Heads on the Original Soundtrack to Basquiat. Love this version better than the original.

That talking Heads song is awesome- I heard it first on Sand In The Vaseline.
I vote for Aimee Mann's "Save Me" from Magnolia. It should've gotten the Oscar. |

Are you sure it's on Sand In The Vaseline? Maybe you're thinking of another song.
The link below doesn't go directly to the song 'I'm Not In Love', but it is in the track list. It is the 13th song down under 'Tyler' listed as 'Not In Love'. It was recorded on 9/5/2008. At the end of the song the singer says, "my apologies to Talking Heads". http://www.iclips.net/watch/the-toadies
~~~edit~~~ was able to save, convert and upload to youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cn6NMKMOseE
Sorry but that's the world's all-time worst cover ever.
Ironically, my all-time favorite soundtrack song is also a cover -- Aimee Mann and Michael Penn covering the Beatles' Two of Us on I am Sam.
I remember sitting in a basement listening to Fields of Marigold until I passed out.
The main reason i like that song is for THAT scene in the movie. Which i've failed to track down on youtube disappointingly.
I have to add another worst. Some Kind of Wonderful Soundtrack - Can't Help Falling In Love by Lick the Tins. It was cute the first time I heard it, but when I finally realised what song it was I almost threw up.
Screamin Jay Hawkins' "I Put A Spell On You" in 'Stranger Than Paradise' is pretty nice...but i've just remembered how good 'Misirlou' sounds at the beginning of 'Pulp Fiction'. |
The film Tideland has some fantastically poignant incidental music. Don't forget the lady in the radiator from Eraserhead. |
I liked the Birdy soundtrack. The Peter Gabriel music worked well with the film. |
Ah yes... the dead-baby-crawling-on-the-ceiling song. I too loved this track. Tell the truth, it was the songs from that album (Dark & Long and Born Slippy) that got me interested in Underworld back in the late '90's. Shortly after that I picked up "Second Toughest in the Infants" and "Dubnobasswithmyheadman". You heard "Oblivion With Bells?"
