If anyone's interested: encore 2 was Nimrod's Son, Isla de Encanta and Gigantic. Crowd pretty quiet at the start, but got warmed up towards the end. A good number of Brits had made the trip. |

Good show.. Silver has been my hightlight at this Gig and Dublin 1... not just because its 'unusaul' to hear it live, it just sounds very, very good... |

They did play Silver well, and Bailley's Walk. I think they played even better than at the SECC, although BFB's voice sounded a bit hoarse at some points during the gig. He managed to pull off most of the screams though well enough. Kim sang really great again too, nice to hear her singing her lines!
I liked the way BF also sang the 'I love you' in a really camp voice as well, i think it was on purpose. And another time during one of the Doolittle songs he was swinging his hips, which was also pretty funny. I think maybe he is turning gay for this new Non-stop Erotik album.
I also liked the standing ovation at the end, they were all up on the stage pissing around acting all goofy, wish I had filmed that.
The backup band Dinosaur Pile-up were alright too, pretty much a clone of Nirvana if I've ever seen one though. Should appeall massively to 14 yr old skater bois. I got four tracks filmed on my shitty camera so I'll try and post some of that up on YouTube soon. They played a cover of 'Please me' by the Beatles in the style of weezer.

I thought they were OK. Throwaway pop music, but fun to listen to nonetheless. Not sure why these guys have been, booked in for most of the rest of the European tour though. They surely can find better and bigger bands to support them than this. I don't think Art Brut are even touring at the moment so they could have booked them in for the whole tour. I would LOVE to have seen them, I will be going to see them on their next tour for sure.

I thought the venue was very sensible in employing those heineken mini-bar people with the tank of beer on their backs to go round the venue, made it a whole lot easier for people to get a beer! Although I did stop drinking the beer after two pints, fucking horrible stuff. What is it with music venues that they have to sell the most awful tasting beers they can find! Heineken can be a nice pint is it is kept right though, but in their it just tasted tasted like stale piss!
And on the way in got a bag search, I thought the guy was going to confiscate my camera, but instead he took out my 500ml bottle of water I was saving for during the gig, took the top off it and gave me it back saying I could take it in but only without the top! So I said that's no use to me because I have to drink it all now, and made him throw it in the bin full of water. Stupid H&S laws.
Still, I managed to get plenty of opportunity to smoke my pipe though! Although the first couple of times I went into the smoke room and basically could hardly draw a breath it was so smoky! Ugh, tobacco smoke is so disgusting.
But I sparked a few up throughout the gig and wasn't pleasantly stoned throughout the gig, and afterwards at the 80's party everyone was smoking so I loaded my pipe up in the corner and smoked a bowl, soon as I'd finished security came over and told me I couldn't do that. That was fine because I was already sufficiently blazed for the duration of the night anyway:-) He was spending his whole time going round telling people to stub out their cigarettes, I think it's great how Holland defies the stupid smoking in pubs ban.
Another stupid and pointless rule they have in the HMH is you have to pay for your cloakroom with these tokens, or munten, that you buy from vending machines, same as with beer. I handed my bag in at the start and they told me I had to pay with 2 munten when I collect it. Of course at the end of the night I forgot about this and spent all my token on beer, so I had to go to the machine and put in 10 euro for 8 munten, use 2 of them to get my bag out, and then go to the reception and change the remaining 6 back into money!
I managed to get a little bit closed to the stage this time and I was looking forward to having a good jump around, like in 1991! But sadly there was not too much of that going on, not sure why. I noticed that the crowd were a lot older than in Glasgow, so maybe everyone just didn't have the energy.
