here's my brief list:
#1 Pilsner Urquell
why do they even bother importing this? i thought the whole point of importing something from another country is because it's good. this beer tastes like carpet cleaner mixed with ass sweat. and to add insult to injury it's 8.99 a six pack. for some unknown reason i recently forgot how much i despise this beer and bought some since it was on sale. now i'm faced with the decision of: what is worse, no beer or shit beer? i don't like putting myself in that position
#2 Tsing Tao
i've gotten to a point where i never want to eat Chinese food because i know the only beer they're going to have is fucking Tsing Tao. i know it's trendy to drink at certain Chinese-themed bars, and lots of people seem to like it but to me i'd rather drink Budweiser. and coming from me that is a bold statement, i assure you. actually, i'd rather just have water
#3 Peroni
what can i say? i'm Italian for christs sake. i guess making beer just isn't in our genes. food, yes. wine, yes. art, yes.. hot women, yes yes. the list goes on... beer is not on that list though..
#4 Milwaukee's Best
i don't think a product's name has ever been more ironic. people could probably argue that there are worse beers in the US, but not very convincingly. just the fact that this beer actually has the word "best" in it automatically qualifies it in my opinion
#5 Elefant
has anyone else ever been suckered into buying this beer because it was expensive and you assumed that since it was imported and fancy looking it must be good? me neither |

i agree that the exported bottles are shit, but drinking this on tap in the czech republic is absolutely delicious. i used to drink alot in london on tap also and it's the bees knees, but the bottles we get here in new zealand are utter rubbish. a real pity.

Well, Pilsner Urquell is among my favourites.
For really horrible you can try Sleeman's Clear. Tap water has more taste.

I second this. One of the best beers I've had when I drank it in Czech, but what we get here in Canada under this label is just terrible.

... and I just had a conversation yesterday about "The beast" AKA Milwaukee's Best being so terrible. I've never had it, but apparently it's pretty universally agreed upon that the only reason to drink it is a dare.

Nothing wrong with Pilsner Urquell.
Most Mexican beers are pretty damned shitty. Tecate is absolutely undrinkable (and only comes in cans, AFAIK). Most of the others taste like Corona, which gets my vote for most overrated beer in North America. If you have to put lime in a beer to make it palatable, it's bad beer.

I'd like to add the classic Natty Ice to the mix:
I believe that this and the Beast are the reason that most American women don't like beer - they went to a party in college and drank this shit and never looked back.

I agree on Urquell - great in Prague, not so wonderful as an import. Peroni I also like, both in Italy and imported.
But the worst shite I have ever tasted was:
Maybe I'm not into high alcohol content in my beer, but this stuff is just wretched and is known as a tramp's lager of choice. |

there's a small range of beers sold in the UK around the 8-9% that can only be bought in cans and are only bought by bums....calsberg special brew is the one i remember most
as far as i could work out, that is the market for that rubbish - it is cheap and got lotsa alcohol so it's a homeless persons friend...
high alcohol beers done well are superb..

In the US, these are marketed as "malt liquor". The alcohol content is too high to label it "beer". It's the brew of choice for bums and assorted other rejects of society. |

i don't think high alcohol content correlates to shit beer in any way. i mean most malt liquor is shit, but there are some quality mircro-brews and imports that have serious alcohol levels
personally i like Corona even without lime. actually i love it. |

Australia seriously needs to stop with the Foster's and start with Castlemaine's XXXX (4X) Bitter. I loved that beer when I visited all too long ago. The problem is it's only sold in Queensland and select pubs in England. They won't even sell it in Sydney, NSW.

Elephant, my first beer. Found four bottles in a bag half buried in the dirt behind my school. Broke the neck off one and drank it. Not a good start. Bought a six pack last year for old times sake. It was even worse than I remembered.

Tsing Tao never bothered me because my dad would let me order it when we would eat chinese food (and when I was still under-age) so I always thought it was good and exciting.
If it's really cold, or in a frosted mug, I think my sense of taste goes away and I just enjoy the cold beer experience.
Wouldn't you guys say that Coors Lite kind of sucks? I haven't had any in 15 years, but it seemed so damn watery back then that it wasn't memorable. On the other end of the spectrum, I recently ordered some kind of IPA which was so strong flavored that I really didn't enjoy it too much and had to order something else.
I'd rather be anywhere or doing anything |

i remember about 6-7 years ago my wife and i sat on a park bench in brussels for 10 hours waiting for friends to pick us up - we bought a bunch of belgian beers to make the time go quick, including a bottle of delirium, which remains to the day the only bottle of beer i have ever tipped out. it was disgusting. it tasted like i was licking the park bench itself.
most belgian beers are delicious...this one wasn't.

i've had Delirium. i agree, on both counts. Belgian beer rules, Delirium not so great . respect for the ultra-high alcohol content, but in that case it didn't work so well
for delicious high alcohol content beer i recommend some of the Dogfish Head IPAs

The bottle alone is vomit inducing. Never trust an opaque container. Paul Newman's Own. |

Ok, crappy Brown Ales (a bit redundant). Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale.
I managed only a couple of sips. |

Australia has some terrible beer. 4x wasn't too bad of one, but if they're stopping with Fosters (which, as you probably know is mostly export) they can stop with VB too. Best Aussie beers are a small craft brewery I think called Red Oak from NSW, Cooper's Pale Ale, Little Creatures Lager, and Boag's.
