The fact that there even may be a Bossanova tour next year will be even more bitchin to me.
Easily my favorite Pixies record. Still have no tickets for Amsterdam, but I will be in the front row if a Bossatour happens.

referenced article, for reference:

http://spin.com/articles/exclusive-pixies-will-play-us-doolittle-shows

Alt-rock kingpins the Pixies will make their live return to the U.S. this fall!

Frontman Frank Black tells SPIN.com that the Boston-born quartet will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their groundbreaking release, Doolittle, by playing the album in its entirety in Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, New York City, and "maybe Montreal" this fall.

"I believe we're doing the Wang Center in Boston," he says of his hometown gig at the 3,600-capacity venue.

Exact dates have yet to be confirmed. The U.S. tour is expected to follow a run of Doolittle shows in Europe scheduled for October.

The gigs will coincide with the release of the Pixies' ambitious Minotaur box set, which will arrive in October on 4AD Records (order yours now via Artist in Residence).

Black notes that 2010 will mark the 20th anniversary of Bossa Nova, and didn't dismiss the idea of performing that album's songs back-to-back, too.

"We don't want to get blood out of a stone or anything. It's not like we're seeking offers -- but the phone just always rings." One recent call was a proposal to open for Neil Young at the U.K.'s Isle of Wight festival this past June.

"You get that phone call and you go," enthuses Black. "Neil Young? Yeah, I'll be there; I'll sing the old songs -- sure!"

Yeah, as excited as I am for the 'Doolittle' shows, I'd go crazy for a 'Bossanova' show. It's a good sign that some more of the songs have found their way into the sets... hope 'Rock Music' stays!

The press release specifically mentions 'Bailey's Walk', 'Dancing the Manta Ray, and 'Weird at My School'. Marvellous.

Bound to be a bunch of songs from other albums towards the end of the show, though. And at those ticket prices, I bloody hope so!

I had a Surreal nightmare last night that I ended up missing a show I went to because I had to walk a mile across this hotel to get to the front of the venue - even though I was at the top of the venue

A.V. Twin Cities - Asserting their greatness: Bands taking classic albums on the road.

Pixies
Album:
Doolittle (1989)
Billboard chart peak: #98
Significance: Nirvana's Kurt Cobain might have been the Pixies' most vocal supporter
during his band's doomed ascent to mega-stardom, and he tried valiantly to steer attention
away from "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by confessing in the band biography Come As You Are
that he intentionally ripped off the Pixies. Aside from an astute mastery of the quiet-loud-
quiet dynamic, there's nothing to suggest Nirvana had ripped off the Pixies at all, but it won
them another generation of suggestible fans. Doolittle tends to be most people's point of
entry for this band (it's available for living-room jams via Rock Band), and it still stands up
remarkably well 20 years later.
Notable cuts: "Debaser," "Hey," "Monkey Gone To Heaven."
Added value: Pixies are only performing this album in nine cities across the country, so if
you happen to be located in one of the chosen spots, you'll also be able to enjoy the band
rounding out Doolittle's 40-minute running time with all of that album's B-sides, including
"Weird At My School," "Dancing The Manta Ray," and "Bailey's Walk."

Does anybody know anything about the tickets for all those shows that go on sale on the 11th and 12th (this Friday and Saturday)? I can't find a single detail anywhere (I specifically am trying to find out about that DC show), and ticketmaster doesn't even have any of it posted. They definitely want to make it as hard as possible to get these tickets.
