Lately, I've been thinking about moving to the Atacama Desert in Chile. Few people live there. Just sand for miles on sight. And there's no rain either. Go down there, bring some gasoline, bring a generator, bring a chest freezer, store some water. Seems to good to be true; there must be a catch that I'm not seeing. Maybe the property tax is really expensive? I don't know. I'd be interested in reading why you fellow FBF members have decided not to live there.

Is beautifull, but for me only for vacations, Valle de la Luna, Los Geisers del Tatio and San Pedro de Atacama are really amazing. San Pedro is a town that grew a lot this last years. I think that not many people live there because you can only live of the tourist industry, and this is very little, but is growing. The weather is extreme, although you donŽt have rains, youŽll have high temperatures in the day and temperatures below 0ȘC in the night. If you donŽt want to live in San Pedro and you want to live in other place far, in order to buy gasoline, water (isŽt difficult found a source of it), youŽll have to travel a lot of km and youŽll see only desert, nothing more. YouŽll have some problems of conectivity, depends of the zone if you can have cell phones or internet, and this is important if you have some emergency. The properties are a lot more cheaper than USA.

My advice: come here to vacation and watch where you want to live and how to live and obtain incomes, thatŽs the main point.

If you have any doubt, just ask.

Salu2
