The best start of any album ever. That soundscape, that drive, and the first lyrics "It doesn't matter if we all die..", sung with that Robert Smith - voice.
Incredible.
Husker Du otherwise, as well as Pink Floyd bootlegs from the 77 tour.
I joined the cult of Souled American / 'cause they are a damn' fine band

My life is dirt but you seem to make it cleaner... reduce my felony to a misdemeanor
That's a really incisive remark. The lyrics are definitely adult.
I found a fox Caught by dogs He let me take him in my hands His little heart It beats so fast And I'm ashamed of running away
I just picked up the first of her remastered box sets (the first seven albums) and every song sounds like it has taken a shiny bath. Most fans say that the period 82-85, The Dreaming/Hounds of Love, was Kate at her peak. I definitely agree.
Some psych rock outfit from down under. Just discovered them. This is a really good album, bluesy rock with some nice vocals. They remind me a bit of Black Mountain with the main difference being the female vocalist isn't a bit annoying, quite the opposite in fact.
I went to see mclusky* on Friday. Great gig. So many brilliant songs. They're probably the band I most associate the 'Pixies sound' with, even if they are their own beast with Falco's brilliant and witty songwriting giving them something different.
This... and that Nebraska sound pushes me, ass over tea kettle nothing crushing more than familiarity F u Bruce
I'm no major fan or anything, but it's his birthday today and he's 70!
I remember this album more than any of his others. It came out around the coming of age time in my life, and just after I bought my first Hi-fi.
I liked it, but I'm more than happy to concede that some of his earlier stuff is even better. I just like the whole 80's synth rock sound of it, and some of those rock ballads are just classic. They strike a chord with me. I also listened to Nebraska today.
