From the NME:

Pixies played their first high-profile UK gig in nearly four years tonight (June 14), performing before Neil Young at the Isle Of Wight Festival.

Opening their Main Stage set with 'U-Mass', the band treated fans to an 80-minute greatest hits set.

Early on in the set, bassist Kim Deal remarked that she found the island "very pretty", before giggling into the microphone.

The band paid tribute to Young by playing their cover of his song 'Winterlong', which was originally recorded for the veteran songwriter's Bridge Foundation charity.

One of the crowd's biggest responses came when Pixies played their classic track 'Monkey Gone To Heaven'.

However, the band aborted the following track ('In Heaven'), after Frank Black and Deal fluffed the song's vocals. "You were meant to scream!" a bemused Deal said to Black. "I haven't screamed since about 1989," he retorted, before the duo collapsed into a fit of laughter.

After giving up on the song, the band launched into fan-favourite 'Here Comes Your Man' without any problems.

The audience were ecstatic when the band showcased three of their best-loved songs one after another, playing 'Debaser', 'Wave Of Mutilation' and 'Gouge Away'.

Elsewhere in the set, 'Gigantic' saw much of the immediate crowd moshing, while 'Where Is My Mind?' also resulted in a mass singalong.

After finishing their set with B-side 'Into The White' – played because of the location of the festival, according to the band – Pixies stayed onstage while the crowd cheered them. Pointing and waving at members of the audience, the band lapped up the applause for a full five minutes.

Pixies played:

'U-Mass'
'Ed Is Dead'
'Nimrod's Son'
'Bone Machine'
'Dig For Fire'
'Velouria'
'Winterlong'
'Alison'
'Monkey Gone To Heaven'
'In Heaven'
'Here Comes Your Man'
'Head On'
'Debaser'
'Wave Of Mutilation'
'Gouge Away'
'Vamos'
'Hey!'
'Tame'
'Caribou'
'Gigantic'
'Where Is My Mind?'
'Into The White'

Four songs on Youtube from the BBC broadcast, plus a grainy camera shot of 'Allison' (which sounds way better than on previous tours... wicked solo from Joey).

Pixies Return to the Stage at Isle
of Wight Festival

6/15/09, 10:03 am EST

Pixies took the stage at the Isle of Wight festival
last night, marking their first gig since wrapping
up their 2004 reunion tour and its subsequent
festival gigs in 2007. Frank Black, Kim Deal, Joey
Santiago and David Lovering treated the crowd
to a nearly hour-and-a-half greatest-hits set
that kicked off with “U-Mass” and featured
“Debaser,” “Gouge Away” and “Gigantic” along
with their cover of the Jesus and Mary Chain’s
“Head On” and their version of Neil Young's
“Winterlong” (Young took the stage next).

According to the NME, the show went off
without a hitch, save for a moment when Black
and Deal laughed off a mistake that ended “In
Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song)” early. After
Deal told Black he was supposed to scream on
the track, he replied, “I haven’t screamed since
about 1989 and the band cracked up. The set
ended with an aptly named song: B side “Into
the White.” Also today, Pitchfork has a first look
at the packaging for Pixies box set Minotaur.

Searching for Pixies Isle of Wight on YouTube and this Jimi Hendrix mash-up came up - maybe it's appeared in another thread before but I thought it was really cool, and appropriate!

Telegraph - Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park, Newport.

...'Lad-rock' dominated but it was the Pixies and Neil Young who shone through at the start
of the festival season.
..

...Elsewhere, Dumfries dance maestro Calvin Harris
worked the crowd, indie kids Hatcham Social added
a handful of grit and Mercury Rev created an
explosive and sprawling soundscape, but attention
hurtled towards Sunday night's complementary billing
of The Pixies and Neil Young.

Deliciously chaotic from the start, for their first show
in nearly two years the Pixies played their greatest
hits set. The bar was raised as Black Francis and
Kim Deal laid into a feast of harmonic treats. Though
Francis's ability to scream as loud as he did has
diminished – "I haven't screamed since about 1989"
he told a protesting crowd when highlight In Heaven
was cut short – they gave a polished, impassioned
set shot through with moments of beauty. As the sun
fell and Caribou, Monkey Gone to Heaven and Gouge Away carried across the
crowd, anticipation rose for the final act...

In The News - Isle of Wight festival review 2009.

...Sadly the ferry back to Portsmouth beckoned but reports from the festival seemed to suggest that the Pixies
played an incredible set featuring hits like Where Is My Mind and Here Comes Your Man but their screaming
psyched out rock appeared lost on the crowd who could often be heard musing over whether the Pixies were in
fact Pixie Lott and Pixie Geldof performing some kind of duet.

Neil Young did his best to follow the Pixies but even his classic folk rock riffs were no match for Frank Black and
his merry bunch but his timeless tales of rock were an apt closer to what was an excellent weekend...

I caught MGTH and Debaser on FIOS channel 711 Palladia tonight. It was listed as Isle of Wight 2009 if you have the Palladia channel. No bands were listed in the program description so it was just luck that I caught those two songs.
