The Administration isn't using the term at all. Carter was quoted out of context, and made a valid point, although I think it was ill judged. |

I'm so happy for the President
What else can we give him? I've got... let me check here... well, my pockets are in a deep financial recovery recession that is currently less severe than originally expected
so...
i'll look around
Edit;
trobrianders, what happened to your post?
I'll gladly leave this topic for an honest post today.

As easy to think of it less as ringing endorsement of the current president and more like howling contempt for the last one.
Or not. Hard now to think of Obama's presidency without your sarcasm in residency.

I've had a couple of days to think about this, that headline may be one of the more profoundly amusing ever written. |

Who are you and do you have something informative to say?
PS If you had your money the stock market during the past 8 months, you wouldn't be worried about the price. |

Stroke of genius handing the Syria question to Congress, forcing the people to take ownership of the chemical weapons ban. He's super smart.

I listened to a talk show on BBC radio 5 the other night, some American pundit trying to defend Vietnam by stating that napalm is not actually illegal under internal law, or defined as a weapon.
I'm intrigued by the silence from Bush and Blair on this situation.
Everyone else 'currently in power' evidently doesn't have a clue what the fuck to do right now.
Oh dear, it looks like we were wrong after all. Not acting makes us look weak. Better stage some form of military action, or else we might lose the next election.
I think this was terrorists who done this, the same ones that the west supported several months ago. It could be anybody, with any motive. yet somehow the US magically has evidence it was the Syrian government. |

You mean Patrick?
Obama's argument here seems to be that if they don't 'stage' some form of military intervention, ie. blow some carefully calculated targets up and hope to fuck they don't kill or maim too many civilians, or cause a massive humanitarian disaster that would make Bhopal look like a bad fart, that this will give all tyrannical regimes the green light to just go around attacking their civilians with impunity, much like Israel for instance.
Of course there is the counter argument, on the other hand, if this was instead the work of terrorists trying to stir shit up more and start a war, it plays right into their hands and almost encourages them to keep doing it, so as to eventually throw the entire world into a holy war. It wont be America's fault if that ever happens though.
Not so smart now Rambozo. |

lol I think the US and the UK lost all credibility it had years ago..
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-23962304
quote: Jordanian PM Abdullah Ensour: "It would be a very exact hit to the chemical weapons, and not hurt the civilians"
Oh sure, because announcing you might be intending to bomb a weapons site days/weeks before you actually go ahead and do it totally makes sense from a strategic point of view.
They are going to have to be precise, and they are going to need some serious explosives to burn off all the chemicals, and they are gong to need to be sure that the enemy hasn't scattered the chemical weapons around such that if there was a strike most of it wouldn't get burned off and instead released into the air.
It's ok, no need to worry, the US military know how to handle this situation. |
