folks,
i will be travelling to San Francisco by the beginning of december. although it is a kind of business trip, i should look for an accomodation with reasonable pricing. can somebody recommend a nice, but not too expensive hotel or something like that? it should be not too far from the centre. i must visit the moscone convention centre (junction 4th street with howard street) on a daily basis, and i don't mind 25 mins footwalk or a bus connection.
thanks for your help,
cheers, 2R

Are you opposed to staying in a hostel? I think they are a great way to meet people when in a foreign country. The one in Munchen was a blast and had quite a few beautiful ladies running around.

thanks for the hint. the thing with the girls is of course worth a thought, however an own quiet room would be nice too since the week is going to be exhausting.

it depends on how reasonably priced you're looking for. most good hotels in SF are going to cost you.. there are some more reasonalbe optoins.
i usually stay with friends in SF but have gotten a hotel a few times. The Sir Francis Drake is located near Union Square and was nice enough.. http://www.sirfrancisdrake.com/
i also stayed at The Powell Hotel once, which is probably about as budget as you can get in SF without stayin in the Tenderloin or staying outside SF.. it was a great location and the hotel was perfectly fine (tiny rooms, but they do the job) http://www.thepowellhotel.com/ and in a great location.
both are very close to your area (union square)
i would book something on expedia.com or hotels.com to get a better deal, but check on the place before you book because they have no refunds usually..
if your work is paying though you should stay somewhere nice. it's not hard to find a nice hotel in SF
