I don't know what you all think about rap but there is one song that I have got into this year, Ice Cube's Go To Church, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQmlJOSo4-c

Why not talk about this?

I've never progressed much past my Run-DMC and early Beastie Boys listening days. I did have a brief fixation with Eminem -- I love his rhymes -- but I just haven't followed hip-hop much.

Well, there's this this by Frank Black.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

if you're white and into rock music, but want to show you have a varied taste and listen to at least some rap/hip-hop, you will mention any or all of the following: outkast, beastie boys, eminem, public enemy.

I like to complain

i kinda enjoy ODB once in a while. the older stuff is better. public enemy, dre, easy-e. i also like buju banton who is more reggae, but still a little rap-like.

i say the above meaning a while as a very long time. like maybe a year. once a year i'll ask a friend to break out the old dirty bastard or the like.

Run DMC, NWA, and the Beastie Boys. One of my friends listens to what he calls "underground rap", some of it's actually pretty good.

Parenthood caused me to stop listening to rap and I am resentful and angry at my child. I was so pissed when Frank put the F-word in Angels Come to Comfort You. Now there's a song I have to skip on Bluefinger. Fucking kids.

Better to let them hear and say it? They'll know it's all about context. It is after all the finest word in the language. Anyone who's got anything to say says it.

I feel a fucking reproach coming on I know cos I already tried this argument out on my sister.

I don't mind my kids hearing the fuck word. In fact, I'm happy they know the word and have a grasp for how it's used -- along with all the other words. But I surely don't let them use it yet. (They're 5 and 8.) That's where I draw the line.

Reggie L, Did you use any English word in the last post? That's my problem with rap. There is too much of an evolutionary jump in language for me to be able to understand any of it (since I didn't grow up with it).

I only saw one episode of that new "comedy" californication with Duchovny but he was complaining about people who use LOL out loud. I was instantly sympathetic.
