So, twice in the past week I've had guys ( one from work, one the boyfriend of my friend michelle; both 26 ) tell me, basically out of nowhere, that they shave their balls. Not all their pubes, just their balls.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that, and I'm glad that people feel comfortable talking with me, but isn't that just odd?
And this isn't new- at least a dozen times over the past couple years guys have volunteered this same info to me.
It's almost always guys between, say, 20 to 26. I'm 31, and my age group seems, to me, much more conservative. I never even admitted to jerking off till I was 20, and even now it still seems like Top Secret information.
Younger guys will tell me about their jerk off habits, about when they're with their girlfriends and too drunk to get hard, and one guy told me about his ball-shaving schedule ( every other Thursday "gotta be smooth for the weekend" ).
The guy from work this week asked me "Are you a shaver?" I blushed and said no. The truth is: first- I'm not really that hairy down there; second- I'm too lazy, It's a chore just shaving my face every couple days ( I didn't tell him that occasionally, usually in the summertime, I'll do a quick trim ).
So I'm just wondering- am I the only one this kind of thing happens to? Last month I was working with a guy, 23 or 24, from a different department all day, he went on & on about his girlfriend and how great she was and how she's changed his life and at lunchtime we were outside smoking and he said he had some pictures of her on his digital camera and we went to his car to look at them- about 7 pictures of her at a family picnic, 2 of her sucking his dick, 1 of her just holding it. I tried to act like I wasn't uncomfortable " She's very pretty...was that picnic on Memorial Day?"

Shaving's a risk I wouldn't take. A trimmer does the job and is quicker. It's only odd if your partner thinks it's odd. My former partner convinced me and I haven't looked back. Sure it makes summertime fresher but the increase in sensation is what it's really all about. It's good to know these insecurities are shedding down the generations.
Wait a minute, this wasn't one of these hoax posts like supersumo's was it? If so I fell for it.

Maybe the open-ness of internet communication--where people admit all sorts of things--is making people more open in real life about things that might have been embarrassing before.
Me, I don't know why one would shave their sac. I haven't looked at a lot of balls, but they're not that hairy. Also, it's never been suggested to me that I do.
Shaving pubic hair, that I get. |

if you like to get your balls licked and/or sucked (this is called tea-bagging) the women prefer you to be at least a little bit trim.
think about performing cunnilingus, the less hair the better, right? well, i think it goes both ways. and if you have a problem with your balls sticking to your legs, try this:
i don't wear my kilt without this stuff, it's great.

Point 1: Jimmy, I thought you were in your early 20s. Point 2: I thought this thread was more about people giving out TMI out of the blue. Which never happens to me. I've never had or heard of anybody randomly showing someone X-rated photos of their gf or bf. However the other afternoon out of nowhere a friend of 20+ years totally unrelated to our conversation asked how big my bf's package is. Which amused me because a) it was a total non sequitur b) it was none of her business. So I asked her why she wanted to know and she said "I like to know that kind of thing." Oookay. This, in turn, greatly amused my bf. Anyway, so, is our culture getting more voyeuristic? My friend certainly is. Point 3: I can't watch old-school porn...all that hair. Ew.

damn that comma, damn it to hell.
I think, as KOK said, the problem with shaving your balls is you get a bit more chafing.

shit, I can't believe that thread is over two years old. In a general sense I think it's great that people can talk about this stuff (I think I draw the line at showing pictures though). Brits, and Scots especially are so uptight about sex or anything to do with the nether regions unless it's in some kind of Carry On.... pun.

In a very general sense. I have no interest in discussing such matters. All talk, no action. No, seriously, no, I find it amusing and somewhat weird, like who cares if your bf/gf/spouse/whoever does or doesn't do xyz? Also, it's a turnoff to learn friends' highly personal sexual preferences. A friend has twice now boasted his fondness of and alleged mastery in cunnilingus and while I love the guy I don't need to picture him and his gf at it.

I think in some way all this bothers me because it makes me feel old- I'm not young anymore, and things that young people do seem alien to me.
Plus, I'm just not that manly, I don't know sports, I paint stupid pictures; I'm nothing like, say, Tom Brady. But then everytime I see a picture of Tom Brady he's wearing scarves and I'd bet $5 he's a shaver.
Everything is just turned upside down. Does this make any sense?

Well, duh. You don't want testicle grease on your eyebrow area. Although you could easily rinse the razor first...

apparently hairy armpits and hairy legs were not seen as that much of a problem for women, until, as with 'halitosis', a marketing assault informed us that it *was* a problem and that there was a solution. which costed money, obviously.

Sitting on the bus the other day, I realized the (adult, not teen) guy standing at my nose level had shaved pits. It seemed weird but the view was better than a big ole tuft of pit hair. But I dunno if I'm ready for guys to be waxing/shaving everything.
