My favorite this year is The Good, The Bad & The Queen.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

I'm still having a difficult time with Era Vulgaris.
Nobody mentioned the New Pornographers?

I really haven't listened to a lot of music this year. Or at least, I haven't liked a lot of what I've heard. Some dissapointing albums released by bands I was really looking forward to, like Arcade Fire, Interpol, The Futureheads, The Walkmen, Maximo Park, Bloc Party... basically buzz bands whose second album I didn't really care for. I'd still call myself an AF fan, as Neon Bible was good, it was just a let down after the phenominal Funeral. The other bands though... I just got really tired of their sound. Besides, the fucking KINKS man. Who cares what was released in 2007.

Sorry Mike, but I loved so much Neon Bible that I couldn't shut my mouth! In my opinion they really could make another masterpiece, that's why they are so good, they were able to change. And I'm glad that I could see them again in Lisbon, it was a wonderful concert. I like a lot The National too.
Lisa Gerrard - Silver Tree
And last but not least, Interpol - Our Love To Admire
I don't know why, but I know I can't stay

I like seedy_m's list:
Let's Be Friends - Les Savy Fav might make the list. It should easily make the top 25%. Check it out speedy.
There's also a new Super Furry Animals, which I don't love, but don't hate - it's got 4 or 5 really good tracks. It may not technically come out this year.
!!! - Myth Takes
New Pornographers - Challengers: not as perfect as their last 3, but still better than most. Like a Frank Black album - even their worst stuff is still better than most people's best!

haven't heard the new sfa.
i am loving bluefinger, let'stay friends (lsf), kaiser chiefs (yours truly, angry mob), go team 's second effort definitely equals their first. kings of leon's newest one is pretty good IMO. ted leo's last one is good but a bit of a let down. i really like the aliens astronomy for dogs (not sure if this counts as 2007)
i agree on the let downs - bloc party, futureheads, might even include interpol but i have only heard it once at a friends house and i was drinking, but i remember saying they've gone down hill.

Can't believe you didn't like Neon Bible. That's just crazy talk. I'd say as good as Funeral.

I didn't mention The New Pornographers because it was too obvious. I just wanted to mention one that people may not know about, but yeah I do love it. Anyway, Neon Bible is still a huge highlight for me. I still prefer it to Funeral.
Kings Of Leon and The Shins are still two of my favourites of the year, and The Go! Team's new one, although very similar to the first, is also very good.
Silversun Pickups, The Ponys and The Kissaway Trail came out of nowhere to surprise me, and Cold War Kids is still my favourite of the year so far.
Interpol's is still a let down, but QOTSA's latest has grown on me.
The big one for me is going to be the next Band of Horses album, out in just over a week's time, as is Sunset Rubdown's new one. Very excited by both.

I haven't heard very many new albums this year, and most of the ones that I have weren't as good as I might have hoped. Let me see:
Erin McKeown - Sing You Sinners Tori Amos - American Doll Posse Rasputina - Oh Perilous World New Pornographers - Challengers TMBG - The Else Rufus Wainwright - Release the Stars Rilo Kiley - Under the Blacklight Bluefinger Testify, the new Simpsons soundtrack album
And that's all so far. Carolyn Mark has a new album out, but I haven't been able to find it in my area.

Stop showing off because you have heard Random SPirit Lover already.
I thought Some Loud Thunder was out last year. If it was this year, then I agree.

I completely forgot about The Else, I haven't listened to it a lot but I'm impressed with it so far. Plus it comes with a bonus disc with some great songs on it too.

Well Band of Horses, 'Cease to Begin' has not dissapointed. Defintiely one of the best of the year so far.
I'd also like to add Apples in Stereo, 'New Magnetic Wonder'. I finally got hold of it after seeing them in Barcelona in May, and it's brilliant. Twenty four tracks, but really good quality throughout. Excellent pop music.
