i'm going to see louis CK next month. And Matisyahu. Also, Grizzly Bear is playing on the same night as ...And They Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead with Future Of The Left. I'll probably just go to the cheaper show.

Spoon rocked! Man, they are so good. So did Deerhunter & Michachu and the Shapes.

First Avenue gave out cake with forks too because it was its 40th birthday. (We think they should have used spoons.) The Mayor even came out and issued a proclamation making it First Avenue day.

Got Black Keys tickets tonight and forgot to mention New Pornographers are coming up soon, too

I'd love to go see Cake; I bet it'd be a lot of fun.

I'm sure they've been around here (Mass.) but I don't remember ever seeing an ad for a show.

FB, Pixies, Breeders, Belly, record sleeves at my blog, RJ Battles http://rjbattles.blogspot.com/

Hey Jimmy, the cake was actual food, not the band. Sorry if that didn't make sense. I agree that it would be fun to see the band, too. I like them. Hope all is well and you're still making all those beautiful paintings. I still have mine :)

The xx rocked. It was a great stage show. There was a after party with one of the band members dj'ing at a club. Then, there was an after-after party. I didn't go to either because my husband was pretty tired and we had plans the next morning. I feel though that I missed out on a good time.

Tomorrow, they announce the line up for Rock the Garden. I hope it's good!!

Daisy, have you seen the Black Keys live before? If not, you are in for a real treat! Seen them three times now and each time they are better than before.

Hey moselyk. long time no see. Welcome back.

I saw the Black Keys open up for the Black Crowes at the Minnesota State Fair in 2008. It was a very short set and it was very far away and I am really looking forward to the show at First Avenue.

When and where hav you seen them?

On another note, the Rock the Garden line up sounds like fun. There are a lot of bands I have good things about and even know a few songs but don't really know too much about. The line up is MGMT, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, OK GO and Retribution Gospel Choir.

Should be fun!

Hey Daisy! Glad to hear from you as well. Rock the Garden does sound excellent! I hope you can post a review after the show. I would love to hear how awesome it was. As for the Black Keys...I really am totally crazy about them. Have been since I first heard their cover of "she said, she said" off their debut album. Seeing them open for the Black Crowes sounds like a dream! I didn't get a chance to see them live until they were touring in support of the Rubber Factory album and the next two tours after that. All in Portland, Oregon. First at the Aladdin Theater, then Roseland and Crystal Ballroom.

Hi, I will try to post a review. :)

That is so cool about the Black Keys and you have gotten to see so much of them. Hopefully they will swing by the Portland area soon for you to check them out again soon.

saw cheap trick performing sgt. pepper in vegas a couple weeks ago. surprisingly good show. well worth the price of admission.

here's a clip of my favorite part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHLtNo-XTio&feature=related from an earlier concert.

New Pornographers tonight...man they are so good live. Dan was hilarious: would come out and play a song and then slink off stage and drink. Then he would poke his head out of the curtain at the back of the stage and wait for his next song and sing it with a mixed drink in his hand. The whole band was kind of making fun (in a good way) of him. He's got charisma though. They are so tight...damn that was a good show. They finished after their first encore, and the music came on as if it was the end of the show, and then they came back out. Neko had already taken this mic out of her shirt, so I think they really thought they were finished. Played 2 songs they hadn't played in a long time and then called it a night. Was lots of fun.

I'd rather be anywhere or doing anything

These are the Fables was the first of the two. Neko seemed a little unsure about doing it from what it seemed like, but it sounded good. I guess My Rights Vs Yours was the final song...I'm sure they play that all the time. It did seem like they were running out of songs but they unfortunately didn't play Letter From an Occupant.

Great show. Nice to see them headline vs the only other time I saw them open on the Belle & Sebastian tour.

Ah, good for you ccuadros! It seems a good time to see The Smashing Pumpkins live, they gained a great new dynamic with their more sober arrangements and setlists especially since they almost entirely stopped their endless and boring prog rock jams and useless provocations with anybody who wasn't in a permanent state of awe in front of them(or should I say HIM). I hope you'll enjoy the concert! Wish I could go on this tour but no date in Europe, not to say France for the moment... (Pixies AND Smashing Pumpkins on a same year would be what I would personally call an ideal plan).

Hi fu, Carlos D recenlty left the band. He was repaced by David Pajo of Slint. Brandon Curtis of The Secret Machines also came on keyboards and vox. I really like SMS. I had a chance to chat with Brandon after one show and he was very nice, funny and cool. Got us into Deadwood, the TV show.
