I saw them new pornos on the Twin Cinema tour, but I skipped this last show. I've got a 10 month old, and he's sick with croup on top of that, so there was no chance to go :(
On the last tour they were great. Neko and Carl have a great rapport on stage and make a lot of jokes and talk to the audience. They were charming and rocked. There was some concern about Neko not playing some of the shows, but I assure you the other female singer Kathryn, I think, is a very fine backup, and also easy on the eyes.
Carl's voice is a little more lispy live than on the records - I wasn't expecting that, but if you hear any live bootlegs you can tell. They also don't sing perfectly in tune at all times (especially Carl - sorry Carl - I just bought your solo album to make up for that comment), but they are fun enough to watch that you can overlook it.
I would totally go to the new pornos if you still have the chance.

I'm really looking forward to finally see them play live. Hopefully with Neko.

These two sentences make an ugly couple. And it's a shame, too, because I was expecting you to demonstrate your excellent taping skills again... |

Never heard of them. Another band from Iceland? Sounds cool. Go to the show and have fun!

Hi, Kella. No, I doubt I'll be attending any concerts in the near future. FB is playing a bunch of shows in California next month, but they're at the same time as my wife is doing a lot of traveling (including to your part of the world -- Prague, to be precise), so I'll be home with the kids. I'm not complaining, but I do wish the stars would line up a little better so I could see The Man again sometime soon.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
Even if you had tickets, you'd probably only sell them to finance a new eletrical appliance.

Go Rita! Enjoy yourself. Listen to some music. Was it speedy who said "music heals"? I can't remember, but you should go and do whatever will bring you some happiness.

I'm going to see BF/FB in Sacramento and maybe TMBG. Your life is less over when the kids get older. |

Thank you Kathryn, and if speedy said, he was right!
And floop, I do have kids, but like darwin sais, they are getting older, and I can go to every concert I want, that feels very good!

i had tickets to the new pornographers in winnipeg. i was pretty excited until they cancelled the show! fu*king bullsh*t! they posted a message on their website saying it was too far a drive from montana to winnipeg in one day.
then in september i had tickets to see WILCO! i was pretty excited to give floop a full review of the show. i even had 2nd row tickets that i spend tones of time trying to get online from some guy in nebraska. the tickets finally arrived 2 days before the show then that afternoon i find out the guitarist supposedly got chicken pox and they had to cancel.
but i got modest mouse tickets today. hopefully they don't cancel.

I've got some sweet ones coming up:
They Might Be Giants Black Francis Final Fantasy Ted Leo/Pharmacists Elliott Brood Geoff Berner Ween
Surely more to come, but that's a pretty satisfying list already.

we have the same sched almost crispy.
i'm doing:
TMBG Aliens Black Francis (x2 maybe, depends how much school work i have) Shout Out Louds Ted Leo Ween (if i can get better seats than what's left and somebody else doesn't come that wants my highly valued concert dollar, i have to ref overtime to get the money for sep/oct - crazy!)
The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind. |

new pornographers were awesome last night. it actually made me like the new album more hearing the songs live. they had this cool minimalist set with just "NEW PORNOGRAPHERS" in bright lights. my girlfriend commented that "they're kind of an odd band".. which she meant as a compliment, and i would think is a compliment. as poppy and accessible as a lot of their stuff is, they also have a healthy amount of weirdness. something about their stage delivery, and some of their song structures. 'bleeding heart show' has to be one of the best songs ever. and of course i love all the stuff off Mass Romantic. i never realized how much of a babe the keyboardist is. yikes. Neko's not lookin' so good these days, but her voice makes her beautiful.
i accidentally spilled beer on some girl who was quite upset, which seems to be becoming a theme of mine at concerts lately. a tradition if you will |

i'll be seeing SFA next month, as long as tickets don't sell out sometime between now and me getting a massive loan for being a lazy student.

I remember when I saw them back in 2005, they had a fog machine. I remember thinking, "They don't strike me as the kind of band for which a fog machine would be appropriate." Only not in those exact words.

I have just found out that she is playing Geneva tonight, so no.
I have also found out that the gig is now going by the name of Broken Social Scene Play Kevin Drew's Spirit If', according to Arts&crafts.ca. That album sounds pretty good from what I have heard so far, but they had still better play some BSC.
