It is time that we show our appreciation for the funny move that Charlie pulls after stepping forward to play a solo. The falling back and comedy mopping of the brow, well, it's just classic.

What do you guys think of Charles Normal's playing? I hate to be neg, but I've been less that impressed by Frank's last couple live guitarists (Normal and Duane Jervis). Then again, the previous guys set a pretty high standard (ie Santiago/Workman/Gilbert).

I wish the boys would hurry to North America so I can answer the question.

Montreal, Frank. Montreal.

I can't remember the "Normal Dance", but I thought his guitar playing was great. Hard to compare with the former guitarists seeing as he was alone and had to take both rhythm and soli, but I loved what he did.

It seemed he would sometimes favour a move/pose rather than go for accuracy at all costs. OK by me; I had lots of fun. They weren't playing for posterity on this tour. Not to compare the two, but it's no fun listening to Jimi smashing and burning his guitar either.

(Mr Normal said he wasn't happy about his playing at the Paradiso, so don't judge him on that alone, Americans. Possibly video nerves. His disappointment is quite palpable after his Remake/Remodel break, for instance.)

Really looking forward to the upcoming Thompson Norman project.

I was particularly sceptical when I heard that FB was spurning the guitar this tour; and as stated above, Normal does a fine job considering. He certainly had his work cut out.

Both he and Jarvis, of course, went onto tours with minimal practice with the band. I didn't see fb's last band, but I really loved Jarvis' playing, on stuff like 'Bullet' and 'Gyaneshwar', especially.

I have no complaints with Jarvis, either. Thought he did a great job, actually. He's not Rich Gilbert, but he has his own style which is neither greater not deficient. I like elements of it and miss elements of Rich, I guess.

All that said, I'd like to see Lyle live once.
