Midlake to me sound like too many other bands, they're okay, but not anything special, imo. But I do like that "Young Bride" song.

"Long Walk Back To San Antone" - Junior Brown

great great concert in St Pete, Florida tonight - Dex Romweber duo opening up for Junior Brown - I'm on my way out the door

if anyone is so inclined - give "Long Walk" a spin on Itunes - Junior Brown is incredible

fair warning - it's very country - no....it's Cuntry........not that sudo pop glossy overproduced Nashville Brooks and Dunn country - but real country - a la Johnny Cash

and the man is an absolute monster on the guitar

The Who - Mary Anne With The Shaky Hand

I always thought that The Who were more a single-band than an album-band, (except Tommy or course), but I must recognize that Thr Who Sell Out is a great coherent album too.

Yeah I know it, and I agree with the well-known opinion that it's one of the best live albums ever recorded

this should probably go in some kind of confessions thread really, but at the moment I'm listening to

Billy Ocean - Red Light Spells Danger

I've listened to it loads over the last few months and strangely love it.

I just got the Beatles "Love" which I find really great. I missed out on it because I thought it was a Cirque Du Soleil cover project - I didn't realize George Martin and son actually went back to the original recordings and remixed/mashed them up.

Now I want to see the live show pretty bad.

If you love the Beatles, don't miss out on this - it's got a lot of really fun transitions using elements from other songs. Really well executed and sounds awesome.

On topic - it's Hey Jude - the first song my son (10 months old) really responds to me and my wife singing to. And the "Love" version is only 4 minutes long :)

Off of 50 Foot Wave's album Golden Ocean. Clara Bow and others; Pneuma, Sally Is A Girl. What other bands get described as math rock? When I saw them live I found the music laugh out loud funny for some reason.

Anyway, I'm listening to "Sax And Violins," by Talking Heads.

'One Piece At A Time' by Johnny Cash. I saw 'Walk The Line' the other day and it made me want to listen to him for the first time in ages. This week I've probably listened to Johnny Cash more than anyone else.

Me too. His version of Nick Cave's The Mercy Seat in particular. So great that Rick Rubin helped Mr Cash to bow out in great style.

Despite What You've Been Told - Two Gallants

the lead singer has a good voice for like, death metal or something. not the growling thing the but the nerdy dungeons and dragons kind.
