I have many strong negative feelings regarding the Catholic Church due to its actions, policies, beliefs, etc. going back several centuries to the current mess it's in. Sorry if that offends.
I first thought the joke was pretty funny now as i ponder it further i am here to defend Kobayashi and all of japan in this matter, is he being accussed of being gay or small in stature isnt that a stereotype and could be offensive to japanese, and it could also be offensive to the concept of knighthood sir elton ect. and now catholics and what about joey chestnutt any term refering to nuts on the chest could be offensive to some. and where does oscar meyer stand on all this? anyway good day all i am off to eat a hotdog
Manuel wants to keep his pet rat. Manuel: Mrs. Fawlty, please understand. If he go, I go! Basil Fawlty: Well, goodbye!
You really don't understand the irony of calling anyone that tells a joke with stereotypes a whatever-o-phobe and then bashing an entire group of people based on their religion? It's pretty much the definition of irony.

to be fair, being a catholic is a choice.
you don't hear people defending nazis because they're bashed on the basis of their beliefs, do you?

"Idiot" is just her sig.
I don't hear people defending Eagles fans either, but I'm sure they're not all assholes. The Eagles fans, I mean, not the people not defending them. Are not all assholes. Probably.
ok, but the eagles are just a band, so to say they are all arseholes is a bit too much, i agree. something like "eagles fans have a poor taste in music" would be more appropriate. 1. an eagles fan chooses to listen to the eagles 2. you dislike the eagles music 3. you think people who like them have a poor choice of music
catholicism isn't a band. it's a way of life that permeates everything about a person.
1. a catholic chooses to follow this life style. 2. you dislike the life style 3. you dislike catholics, as they are defined by this life style.
but don't you think it proves a point that beliefs *are* something you can judge someone or a group of people by?
Some people believe The Eagles are good band worth spending money to hear. Those people can be properly judged as either having poor intellect, failing to commit adequate time to making their musical choices, or being drunk.

This isn't apples and apples. For centuries the Catholic Church has inflicted outright evil through its ongoing political and other efforts, while gays are at the other end of the, yes it's a PC term, power spectrum. When an elderly family member of mine died, I was the one who was allowed to give consent for cremation, eventhough I lived thousands of miles from where for decades they had lived and co-owned a business with their partner, who meant nothing and had no rights in the eyes of the law and most of society.

I got some heaven in my head
Hey thanks for the history lesson! Now I'll tell you just a couple facts about me. My sister is gay. I went to a Jesuit high school, but am not a practicing catholic.
Ah jeez, this isn't worth it. Go on hating a huge diverse group of people for things that happened hundreds of years ago and that most of them probably know nothing about. I'm sure it will make the world a better place.
