Poofter jokes are funny
in the same way its funny when mr. humphreys on are you being served is joked about on a regular basis on the show, or when monty pythons flying circus does gay themed humor,
i do not condone gays or straights being discriminated against or i do not condone gay bashing or straight bashing or gays or straights being harmed in any way, i was not offended by the joke about the hotdogs or bangers so food jokes do not offend me
i guess its ok to joke about straight people and not gay people
i am sorry if what i thought was a funny joke offended anyone
in this p.c. world you have to walk on eggshells and god forbid don't offend anyone.

Not sure what you are referring to about the kid named hell, nor have I ever watched Will and Grace.
While I didn't mean to make you feel bad I still don't understand how it would not occur to you that it's not OK to make "jokes" like that. How would you feel if you were gay on this board and saw that "joke," with the implication that there is something wrong or bad about you. I mean, who wants to be lumped in with Elton John, for chrissakes?

i think the pc thing can get pretty riciculoso sometimes (this being one of those times).. this is a bad joke. but not bad because it's offensive. just bad because it's not that great (sorry sweetpolly).. i don't see how a bad pun on hot dogs would be so offensive to someone in the gay community, or how it implies that there's something wrong with you. that's a bit of a stretch i think..
hopefully some members of the gay community will chime in on this.

Yes, I think all gay-related jokes are homophobic because they are based on the supposition that there is something inherently wrong with homosexuality. If that makes me humorless, so be it.

which leads me to my point. i think sometimes there's humor derived simply from differences between people. it doesn't always imply that there's something wrong with the party who is different. for instance, i think "little people" are funny, but not because they're little, but because being small makes them seem gay.
wait, no, that's not what i meant.

I think I understand your point more than I understand the crust stuffing.
But in this case, with this particular joke, there is the implication that there is something wrong with having weenies in your mouth if you are a guy. Juxtaposed with the fact that most people would say that there is nothing wrong and, indeed, everything right, with having weenies in your mouth if you're a woman, and you have homophobia.
Which brings me to two points:1) maybe the crust has weenies in it; 2) I had hot dogs for dinner.

No member of the gay community seems to have the guts to chime in on this, Floop. This whole debate is delightful...I was discussing it with my wife, Laura, and she thought the 'weenies in the mouth' thing was terrible and hurtful, while I just thought it was simply divine.

Well not really. The complaint is often made that it's preceived as OK for a man to indulge in many/casual sexual encouters, but if a woman does it, she's a slag (whore to you guys).
As it goes though, I am starting to come round to Kathryn's way of thinking now. I can see how people see it as homophobic in some way, but I can see how others genuinely don't.
