So it's cold, wet and miserable here in Old London Town and the mp3 is being searched for the ideal music to match the cold, wet and miserable day. My vote goes for...

The Cure - Disintegration

Anyone got anything better?

Something shoegazerish, like Swervedriver's Raise album, maybe? Or perhaps Neil Young's Evrybody Knows This Is Nowhere? REM's Airportman is nice and atmospheric. Or you could go more literal and plum for The Cult's Rain, if you feel like rockin' out!

Amnesiac by Radiohead.

Of course when I bought that album it was cold and rainy. But seriously.

I'll be by the pool, playing with my guns.

It actually turned sunny here so I defaulted to Bob Marley to go with my lunchtime rice and peas. Of these choices, I approve Amnesiac most of all, and would plump for () by Sigur Ros rather than Takk. Curiously, I find Everybody Knows... to be a dry, dusty weather kind of sound.

If it's raining and at night and you can hear the rain falling on the roof, I suggest Plastikman's "Consumed".

Well, next time it's raining I suggest you put on "Cold House" by Hood.

Cold and ...damp.

Ooh, interesting. I only have Outside Closer. I really like it, and couldn't for the life of me tell you why I haven't got any more Hood albums. One shall investigate the matter forthwith.

That's a good one.
I also suggest Six Organs of Admittance. Anything by them.

Rustic Houses Forlorn Valleys, and Silent 88 are also excellent- maybe not as "rainy day" as the others- more end of summer type mood IMHO. Also, one of main guys out of them has got a solo project "Bracken- we know about the need" also worth checking out.
