While Tower stores are, indeed, outta business, the website was likely bought out by someone else and when you buy from it you're not necessarily buying from Tower (the Tower you know and recognize from the past).
Sorta like CDNow. Anyone remember them? They were the big, popular music buying website 7 or 8 years ago. The way people talk about Amazon now is how people talked about CDNow in 1999. But they went belly up. Amazon bought them and, while the site cdnow.com still exists, it's Amazon.
