The first of the last nine episodes started last Thursday over here. It’s finishing up in June in America, and then...it’s gone.
For years to come I know, when people discuss TV shows, there will always be someone who says “They don‘t make shows like The Sopranos anymore”
I’m going to miss James Gandolfini breathing loudly through his nose

I've only ever watched a few full episodes. Like a lot of series, I'd prefer to see it from the start. Of course, no Goodfellas=no Sopranos. |

I wont give away the ending. Promise. But that sucked so very, very hard. I can think of a bunch of reasons why the ending could be seen a 'brillant', but really, that just came across as a big FU to fans. Its a mafia drama, not an Andy Kaufman comedy show. Damn you David Chase. Damn you. Why don't you just.....

I've been downloading it and will watch the final episode tonight. I was under the impression there were 12 episodes but I'm a bit disappointed now, best programme of my lifetime and very possibly ever.

Technically, there were 21 episodes this season, rather then the usual 13, but broken up in two installments, of 12 and 9.
And to espouse an opinion as a fact like some jerk, the best program of your lifetime and very possibly ever is Deadwood. Season three on sale tomorrow. Buy it at bestbuy and you get a free deck of deadwood playing cards!
Yeah, the Soprano finale was maybe misexecuted, to the extent of cinematic blueballs.

It was an ok ending, Im neither disappointed nor delighted with it, no matter what they had done people would have complained it was that sort of show.

I disagree. It's more of a family drama about people in the mafia. It focuses more on people's releationships and inner psyche's than plot driven mafia action.
I thought it was a great ending. I won't give it away either, but it was great. It has people talking doesn't it? |

I disliked the ending. But that is because I feel 100% sure there will be a movie a few years down the road.
For that ending to be an artistic statement, they can never touch the show again. If they ever pick it up, then it was all a sham designed to keep the sequel alive. |

I've been meaning to watch deadwood, I'll add it to my blockbuster list now, see what all the fuss is about.

The ending was alright. You get an emotional build-up with no result or satisfaction. Which isn't a bad thing To be honest, a whole family sit down with a fade out would have sucked a million times worse.

Um. I'm about a decade late to the party. During this fast-closing month, I watched seasons 1 and 2 and have the rest of the series on hand.
I suppose it's several years too late to expect any of you to discuss the show. But I think it could be a hit!
Happy hearts fall from my shaking hands
