Godspeed
Yeah I just can't wait to hear the rest of it, I was really hoping for some developments today or some more news on how and when we can get this song in full!!

Those two new songs are great. The Megafone one especially, sounds very interesting, lots of styles on that one, tiny bits that remind me of Pixies, Bowie, early solo FB, Catholics. This new post-nashville creative phase he's in keeps getting better and better.

I know it's very unappreciative of me to say, but that 1 minute of song has me more excited than all of Bluefinger put together. Then again, to think all of this music I compare against each other is coming from just one man, well, I'm in awe.
As always.

I agree on that short intro tune - it's awesome. But I just can't seem to get into Violet's voice. Really hurts Bluefinger, imho. |

I'm on Team Violet, too. I 100% agree she's brought something out of the man that lay dormant for a while. I don't know, there's just something in this new music that feels so care free, relaxed, and a breath of fresh air. She deserves a thread of her own very soon. |

Since Frank has been married to Violet:
1. The creative process has bloomed, as described above. 2. He seems a lot happier and grounded. Just listen to recent radio interviews. 3. He has lost a lot of weight. See the cover of the 93-03 collection.
Just a few observations. Not saying any of them can or should be directly attributed to Violet. But you can't help but see the great change in the man.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

I am no longer surprized by how he keeps surprizising us. This surprizing lack of surprizes is... aw fuck it. The new one with the piano is awesome.
Good enough for John and Yoko, man. |

Can't believe I've only just noticed this! So glad to hear some new stuff and to see that Rabbit Hole and DMC have not been completely forgotten about. Very exciting!

Gotta say i think Violet's voice rocks on bluefinger, love the ooooeeeeeeee ooooooooeeeeeeeeeee on threshhold, and the back up vox on she took all the money. Great stuff indeed. I also wholeheartedly agree this era of FB is really exciting. I enjoyed parts of FMRM but bluefinger blows it to pieces. |

I wonder who does the great backing vocals on the first verse of TA. "TAAAAALK to a man just to get a little work/Then you TAAAAALK to the hand just to get a little jerk/Some people DIIIIIIIEEEEEE when they start to get old/But I wanna DIIIIIIIEEEEE upon the threshold"... It's hard to tell if it's double vocals by Frank or if it's all Violet. Anyway, I love the backing vocals on the whole album.

Sounds like a woman to me, so I'd say Violet, going off other backing later in the song too.

It's funny. I like this song. I enjoy listening to it. I think it's good. But it wasn't unitl I read this post and started singing it in my head, just now, that I realized, "I LOVE THIS SONG".
Good enough for John and Yoko, man. |

Didn't the Pixies reunion happen after Frank and Violet got together?

Not really sure, kfs. It's a very rough timeline. I have no idea when they met, but they didn't get married until at least after the Pixies reformed. There's that scene where FB tells Kim and Kelly that he just got his divorce finalized and Violet is now pregnant. I don't know when they started living together, but it really seems like living with her has helped him pull his shit together completely. (But do any of us ever really get all our shit together completely?)
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

There must be more to the whole Oregon thing. Violet's in Oregon, Larry Norman's brother Charles Normal, lives in Orgeon as does the drummer. I think it's Oregon that's responsible. Must be in the air/water.

Without making any assumptions about the man's personal history -- though I would agree with much of the speculation on this thread about the ameliorative Violet Effect, and I will vouch for the quality of life boon which comes with relocation to Oregon -- I will say that they looked very much in love at the Salem show. At one point Frank was sort of leaning his head against Violet as they both sang.
There seems to be a palpable joy about the man, at least what I've seen of him on stage this past eight months or so, the kind of thing you could ascribe to being very much in love. And creatively, it seems he's thriving. All of which is good for us as Fans.
And I am also a big fan of Violet's vocals and especially the harmonies on Threshold, which with each listen continues its ascent of my FB favorite charts. |

(I know I'm milking the Lefty's/Salem show for lots of posts here, and I'm sorry for all this blathering, but by golly it's like I got a rock n'roll blood transfusion and just cannot get the show out of my head.) |

I guess I'm out voted on the Violet vocals thing. Totally agree on the muse point. Didn't think of that too much.. Those raw demo tracks are rad. |
