REM's Hope and Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, in some subtle, real way.

The verses of The End Of The Summer by FB & House Of the Rising Sun by The Animals. Especially that it begins with the words 'A house is made...'. I still think he's going to continue with '...in New Orleans' every time I hear it.

I love this one, have you read in the liner notes how he notes Cohen as a contributor because he recognised that he'd taken it completely.

Idiot.

A notorious one is The Flaming Lips "Fight Song" and Cat Stevens "Father and Son"

Sublime "What I Got" sounds like The Beatles "Lady Madonna"
Pavement "Silence Kid (or "Kit")" sounds like Buddy Holly "Everyday"
Creed "Are You Ready?" sounds like Stone Temple Pilots "Vaseline"
White Stripes "Fell in Love with a Girl" sounds like The Pretenders "Middle of the Road"
The Offspring "Why Don't You Get a Job?" sounds like The Beatles "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da"

That's a few. I'm into this shit.

The break in Sabbath's "Iron Man" and the break in Deep Purple's "Highway Star."

The riff in Deep Purple's "Black Night" and the riff in Dead Kennedys' "Let's Lynch the Landlord."

Three similar riffs, in chronological order of recording:
1) The Damned "Life Goes On"
2) Killing Joke "Eighties"
3) Nirvana "Come As You Are"

Not sure if I've heard Life Goes On. Killing Joke sued Nirvana, sucessfully I think, but there were no hard feelings-Dave Grohl has played drums with them, I believe!

I recall another one, the riff in Joy Division's "Leaders of Men" is uncanny in its resemblance to Led Zeppelin's "Achille's Last Stand".

That Green Day-Oasis-Travis-Eminem mashup is great. I've always loved it. When I hear one of those songs on its own, I feel like the others are missing.

wait, I seriously thought this offspring song was a beatles cover...? are you sure it isn't? It just seems way too obvious..

I mean a cover with different lyrics, of course... If that makes sense... I just thought they had taken the melody and juxtaposed it with their lyrics...

Yeah, I believe it was intentional, as was the Sublime/Beatles deal.

Wasn't the Flaming Lips / Cat Stevens one also intentional? I thought it was. Anyone got the liner notes?

Flaming Lips/Cat Stevens was not intentional. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia regarding this:

The song "Fight Test" echoes Cat Stevens's "Father and Son". Stevens, now Yusuf Islam, is receiving royalties following a relatively uncontentious settlement. The band's frontman, Wayne Coyne, claims that he was unaware of the songs' similarities until producer Dave Fridmann pointed them out.

A few obvious ones, in fact some are complete rip-offs:

‘Taxman’ by the Beatles and ‘Start’ by the Jam

‘My Sweet Lord’ by George Harrison and ‘He’s so Fine’ by The Chiffons

‘Black Mirror’ by Arcade Fire and ‘Black Planet’ by The Sisters of Mercy

‘I am the Fly’ by Wire and ‘Line up’ by Elastica

‘3 Girl Rumba’ by Wire and ‘Connection’ by Elastica

‘All Right Now’ by Free and ‘Keep on rocking me Baby’ by The Steve Miller Band

There is a song on the Manic Street Preachers album ‘Everything Must Go’ that I have forgotten the name of which deliberately parodies Nirvana’s ‘Smells like Teen Spirit’.

Yeah, it certainly does! That's a great album, despite the rip offs, and the fact that Ian Astbury thinks his Jim Morrison. The surviving Doors didn't have to send his ego through the roof by replacing Mr. Mojo with him, baby baby desert honey chile!

Over here we cannot get YouTube at all - not even its home page. They (the Gov't) have also blocked transmissions from CNN and the BBC recently when they have aired topics deemed too sensitive. We can get Wiki though

The beginning of Don't Get Me Wrong sounds like the beginning of Valentine and Garuda.

Also the vocals in Radio Lizards reminds me of the riff from Divine Hammer.
Sort of.
