Been doing some work for Dean and the gang on the "official" frankblack.net YouTube site, and came across this great Pixies clip:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=eEPi5EQjEpw
I've heard a lot of versions of "Tame," but the screaming and the heavy breathing on this one seem more raw than all the others. I love it. Funny to see FB with so much crazy, nervous energy like this. Nowadays, he's so austere and mellow. Oh, and his hair ...
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Coast, C'mon, I can't believe I saw this before you did. I thought you were FB certified. Maybe I am wrong. I was blown away by the Dennis Miller Bird Dream of Olympus Mons version.
cause space between the oddballs is so very looooooooooooong. |

He looks like Lou Dobbs in this with the hair. I wonder if he's kind of glad he went bald.

sorry i don't know anything about basses, but she uses so many during that gig... it's almost ridiculous...whereas in all the reunion shows she's only used the one...

Oh, I'm FB certified, but not Pixies certified. I honestly don't know the band all that well. It's been an interesting journey for me to go through all these videos. What has struck me more than anything is how neurotic and playful young Charles was. He's so serene now. It's almost like he was a completely different person when he was a kid. There's the one where he's swinging his guitar around by the neck, and nearly knocks over his mic stand because he's being such a clutz about it. It's really weird. I guess he's still weird like that, but he's so much more conscious of his actions now.
Oh, and Isaac (benji), you rule for uploading videos to YouTube. It's always nice to recognize people on YouTube. "Hey, I know that guy! He's the one who begged me to upload flacs!" :)
EDIT: I can't believe I called him Charles just now. I curse Trobrianders every time he does that.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Yep it's better. Available as one of two live songs on the Alec Eiffel single. We played the 12" at 33 1/3 a couple of times. Not as dumb as it sounds. Try it. Still got my own crappy Walkman recording of the Academy gig. And coastline that night he was swinging his guitar round by the neck. That was it, that was the first time I saw them. He was moody back then, he still is now I think.
