i did a search for something on the forum about his song and didnt see one, but i have been trying to figure out what the meaning behind this song is, can anyone help with some info

once stood a man on my face
Ooh yeah, on my face
Gobbled him up 'cause my taste
Leaves nothing to waste

Hear the riddle that I say

What is fair is fair
That is fair and square to me

Piano it marks the good pace
Ooh yeah, the good pace
Don't know if it's right, but I like the bass
So turn up the bass

Hear the fiddles as they play

What is fair is fair
And the guitar player

No metal, no brick, was no trace
Oh, no, was no trace
But machines moved on and still chased
No particular place

Hear the riddle that I say

What is fair is fair
That is fair and square to me

"I saw the probe, long after the last trace of humankind had slowly vanished; it was moving on still, operating perfectly, as its creators intended."

quote:
While listening to teenager a while back, I thought I might have solved the fiddle riddle...the "face" on which man stands is that of the earth, but he abuses his gift and winds up extinct. But the machines he created live on and live equally futile lives...am I right?

Frank Black: You ah smart. A sci fi story I read somewhere.

Yes you are right. There's a tight trio of them, see also Mr Grieves and Living On Soul
