Screw you elitists, who's been following the Coca Cola Championship? Far more exciting than some lame two-horse race at the top of the Premiership. Sunderland look good to go up, but really any three of the top 11 could be promoted.
Discuss.

I was just thinking the other day how quiet you'd been about Southampton this year. In with a shout of a play-off place. I can't see Cardiff or Sheffield making it, there's only three games left, isn't there?
Roy Keane has done wonders at Sunderland.

Stupid Roy Keane. That said, George Burley hasn't done a bad job - most managers would just have flopped at Southampton and we'd be wallowing mid-table rather than reaching for promotion. We have a hideous chairman, so most managers fail, we've had something like 12 in 12 years.

Realistically I'd say it's down to Southampton in 8th to make the play-offs. For any team to make the playoffs from below there would be some achievment. Colchester have some tough games, so I'd say they're out of it.
As long as Preston, West Brom or Stoke don't go up I'll be happy.
I agree the Championship is more exciting near the top, it always is. Still rather not be there next season though!
Oh and I want Leeds down.

Is Gerry Taggart still on Stoke? If so, go Stoke!
Then again, he was old and kind of a hack, so I'm sure he's retired.

No, Gerry Taggart is no longer at Stoke.
Roy Keane has done an amazing job at Sunderland. Could well be our manager within 5 years. Perhaps sooner.
Southampton are great value for money. I'd rather watch them than anyone else in this division.
I'll still be amazed if Birmingham don't win this league (which they won't now). They have easily the best squad.

There are way too many threads about english football over here. Why don't we talk about the French league instead? Last weekend, a total of 8 goals were scored in the 10 games played. Don't you secretly dream this was broadcast on the BBC:
Toulouse 2 - 0 Auxerre Troyes 0 - 0 Nancy Nantes 0 - 0 Lens Valenciennes 0 - 0 Olympique de Marseille Bordeaux 0 - 0 PSG Lorient 0 - 0 Monaco Lille 2 - 0 Sochaux Le Mans 0 - 0 Rennes Nice 2 - 1 Saint-Etienne Lyon 1 - 0 Sedan

Southampton as entertainment? Who'd have ever thought it. Southampton were always the team that people were playing in the news, they were never the main story.
You show them Gareth Bale/Gregorz Rasiak/Kenwyne Jones/Bradley Wright-Phillips

After Birmingham's win tonight they're back to second. They have what could be considered as the toughest run-in in the leauge though. It's looking like it will go down to the last day of the season for those automatic spots.

Didn't you hear? EPL is the best league in the world with 3 of the 4 Champions League slots ;)
Enjoy your European football while you can. Once Beckham comes to USA, everyone will want to come play in the MLS. J/K of course. I don't think I've watched an MLS games in like 3 years.

I don't think they show any Championship games in the USA. All we get is a few highlights on SKY Sports News.
So what happened to Gerry Taggart? Is he retired?
I got a Taggart jersey as a gift when he was on Wolves a few years ago because my last name is Taggart, so I kind of followed him for a while. Maybe he was better in his youth, but his tackles seemed a bit Scholes-like.

He was an old fashioned type of centre half. I think he may have hung up his boots now, but I cannot be sure.

How many Football League clubs can you name in ten minutes? All of them? That's what I thought... but damn this is frustrating! I've tried this twice and both time have been left with 15-20 of the 72 football league clubs that I'd forgotten about. Have a go if you've got a spare ten minutes.

So things are getting pretty tense around the playoff places, no? Things could still go any direction.
Results went in Southampton's favour at the weekend - in fact, we did the world a favour, because nobody likes Leeds. Anyone's in with a shout.

Birmingham can run away with it, that's fine by me: as long as teams like WBA and Wolves are getting beaten that's all good for Simone.

The league is amazing, any number of teams can still make the playoffs, Preston are in real danger of dropping out of it. Even Wednesday can still do it but would take some luck if they were to make it. The top 2 is between 3. Kind of miss the excitement in that league, but then I had 12 years of it, so nah.

Exciting stuff over the weekend. To make up for the fact that ManU have virtually secured the Premiership, the one club that everyone dislikes even more, Leeds, are relegated to their lowest position ever. After me, ahhhhhh... Similar position to Notts Forest, I guess, let's see if they bounce back up.
Birmingham and Roy Keane's Sunderland (tm) are up, Derby are now going to contest the playoffs. The rest of the places will be hard fought-for though; Colchester and below are all but out of it now, but that leaves five teams fighting for three spots, with little to choose between them. Get in the Saints.
PS - technically I'm premature in announcing Leeds' demise, but they have to hope Hull lose plus win by nine clear goals...

I hope the teams that occupy the play-off positions now are the ones who finish there.
Oh and Leeds...

Unlucky Cheeseman, penalties is always a horrible way to lose a game. I was hoping Southampton would get promoted.

Well...Derby County won the '£60 million match' and will be playing in the Premiership next season. Justice I suppose, they did finish third.
