now I'll read more of his books. Any Vonnegut fans here?
I'll be by the pool, playing with my guns. |

I don't read him as much anymore, but people who read what I write ask me do I read him at all. Been lovely to have you here you old coot Vonnegut.

I read "Slaughterhouse-five" during the same period that I was heavy into "Pistolero." I remember reading a line with the word "somnambulist" in it the VERY SECOND that FB was singing the word into my ears (in the song "85 Weeks"). I've also wondered if Billy Pilgrim the "hero" of that book, was in any way related to Billy Radcliffe. Oh, and there's also a character in KV's "Sirens of Titan" who reminds me of Billy Radcliffe. Can't remember his name. Might have also been Billy.
FB and KV are forever linked for me, and I'm terribly sad to hear of KV's passing. He was one of the great Americans.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

I haven't read all of his books but I have loved the ones I did read.
I actually started reading Cat's Cradle 2 days ago. |

I haven't read any of his books, but I've certainly heard of him. RIP. |

Dead? Or unstuck in time?
I've read all his books, except for Player Piano, and consider him to be a god. Which is ironic, since he was an atheist. Or a humanist. Or whatever. Next time I'm in a bar I'll drink the man a toast. America has lost one of its saints.
R.I.P.
p.s. how great was his cameo in 'Back to School'? I can't help but to smile when I think of it.

Well said, Ataris...I only read him in the last 4 years, but thoroughly enjoyed him. Cat's Cradle, Breakfast of Champions and Slaughterhouse 5. Some pretty funny and weird stuff in there.
I'd rather be anywhere or doing anything |

i read slaugtherhouse 5 15 years ago or so because i wanted to read an english book, and this was the one i got in our library. i liked it from the beginning. the mixture of sadness & madness did it for me. my favourite quote of him is (by his brother, actually, but he reported it in a short story): "if you think my desk is in a mess you should have a look inside my head!" KV had some suicide attempts, didn't he ?
