anyone heard their new album?
it's not released for over 2 months but it's been leaked and my word it's a goodan.
i personally like their earlier stuff more, especially 'fake can be just as good', but this one and their last record 'misery is a butterfly' are about to push their way to the top.

the new album, '23', is beautiful.
seems poppier to me, but in a good way.
some delicious songs on it, and i think delicious is a very good adjective to use for the sound of the record. have a listen and you'll see what i mean.

all i can say, thank god for polio! brian

One of my favourite bands EVER. I'm a fan since the beginning and their first single, and I'm waiting for this new album like a baby for it's feeding time.
I know it's been leaked but I don't want to listen to it before the official release. I want to touch it with my hands (like a baby with etc...).

I just heard two songs: "Silently" and "23", that are AWESOME.
One of the things I like with this band (and there's a lot of things I like with this band, believe me...) is that they are able to try something new with each new album, but to keep their own identity and sound at the same time, wich is very difficult. I really like the way they have developed through the years. Each album is a gem.

I saw them three times live and it's part of the greatest moments of my musical memories (except one time because they were very tired, and the setlist was not very good), then I wait for the dates of their european tour like etc...

Not heard any new stuff yet but I am really looking forward to seeing them at Primavera in May. I have never seen them live before.

I saw them in '97 when I only knew La Mia Vita Violenta, but I'd love to see them now. Plus, Kazumi is a cutie...
I haven't heard anything from 23, glad to hear good things from you, benji.

blonde redhead is one of the few bands that i like that my wife really likes. which means they tend to get played quite alot.
we saw them a couple of times in london a couple years ago and had a great time.
i used to use fake can be just as good as my training tape - i would listen to that and run madly up big hills and stuff.
but their new albums are fabulous.

and 23 is continuing the theme....

so i wholeheartedly recommend either downloading it early for a listen, or, holding out til march, cause either way it'll be worth the wait....

it's already slotted very nicely in 2nd place for album of the year behind the new kristin hersh album....

I've only listened to it twice, while doing something else and thus not paying attention, but I didn't like what I heard... :(
I hope I'll change my mind after a couple more listens.

after having it for a few months i've found it not as engaging as their others stuff i've found.
still very good.

my wife doesn't like it as much as the others mainly because there's one song on it, silently, that sounds kinda like the neverending story theme which she hates with a passion..

how can it be?!

btw, Silently is really great IMO, sounds like the Shangri-La's, the The Ronettes or The Crystals meets Kratfwerk. It's a hit!

Just a quick review of the gig I went to last sunday:

It was the 4th time I was going to see them, and I already said it, I'm a big fan of the band since the beginning. I was quite impatient to see and hear how the new songs were going to sound like. They played 1 hour and a half, only songs from the last three albums (almost 15 or 16 songs). The other times I saw them, there was always a big tension on stage, between Kazu and Amadeo, and between Amadeo and Simone, it was like a "je t'aime moi non plus" behaviour like we say in french. I don't know if it's part of acting or if it was for real, but it used to bring a real intensity to their shows.
This time, they were more relaxed, often smiling and thanking the audience, often speaking between them between the songs. That was a surprise, but there was still a tension during the songs.
The other new thing is that I didn't remember that Kazu used to dance and move like that. She has a real charism and presence on stage, and like said Homers, she's a cutie!
I felt very happy with this gig, I like all the songs they played from the last albums, I only wished they would have played some songs from the older ones. The only critics I can make is about the sound and mostly about Amadeo's level balance, wich was too low, and also the use of pre-recorded sounds that I found was not always a good idea, the show would have been better played in a more simple way IMO. But apart from that, it was really great. My girlfriend got an autograph from Amadeo.

here's some of the songs (in total disorder) they played:

Dr. Strangeluv
23
SW
Publisher
By Spring And By Summer Fall
The Dress
Silently
Heroine
In Particular
Melody Of Certain Three
Melody
Falling Man
Equus
Misery Is A Butterfly
and also a great and long song that I didn't know (surely a B-side) that sounded like Velvet Underground meets the Pink Floyd meets Blonde Redhead.

Well they were pretty good in Barca. My girlfriend liked them too, which is promising for future gigs.

I don't own enough of their records to be sure what their new stuff was, but most of it was good and I assume they played a lot of songs from the latest album.
