Here's a Bluefinger (and all things Frank) discussion that's going on right now on the Radiohead fan forum:
http://www.ateaseweb.com/mb/index.php?showtopic=234997581&st=0
It's always good to hear FB chatter from people who aren't the uberfans -- a little different perspective.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

I can't believe someone described FB's solo work as 'mediocre'!

More than Doug Sham or I dont know who, I 'd please like to know if there is a continuity link between the Bluefinger album and anything Frank did before. What you described yet makes me vaguely think to Devil's Workshop, but it's from very thin infos. |

You don't know Kajagoogoo? "Too Shy"?
I knew reading a Radiohead forum would depress me. I guess Bannister is coastline? Seems like he's the only one there who has taste.

I'm not Bannister. But I can't help but wonder if Bannister is on this board, too. At the very least, he must read the fb.net forum, maybe just as a lurker.
Is it just me, or is it a little weird that none of the press have picked up on "Bluefinger" or The Man's name change? This posting on the Radiohead board is the only place outside this forum that I've seen any mention.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Good! That means this forum is still quite "showbiz-free". |

Maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. It may be that nobody cares. I work for a big fat newspaper -- one of the larger in the U.S. -- and when I shared the info with our music critic last week, he rolled his eyes and laughed. That makes some sense, though -- Frank Black, the solo artist, isn't much of a big deal in the popular music world. Now, if the news were "New Pixies album!" it might be a bit different. But really, FB barely makes cult hero status as a solo artist. (Breaks my heart, but it's true.)
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

What is a big deal in the popular music news industry world? Britney Spears shaving her head, apparently.
The Police have sold out all their dates in minutes, but it may be that nobody cares. Except for all the people that bought tickets at $250 a pop, I guess. I would call that big news, but you'd have to dig deep to find it on any of the major music news outlets.
Oh, and the Van Halen reunion is off. So sad.

I'm totally addicted to Perez HIlton's Britney Spears coverage right now. It's awful, I'm not proud. But, I can't look away... |

Well I think part of it too is how would you cover the story?? I mean a reporter would have to spend hours upon hours sifting through the forum... piecing a bunch of posts that even the wittiest (an less witty) of us have no clue how to unravel... then they would also have to figure out if fb really posted those posts. compound this with the fact fb switches ids in the middle of things...
who has that kind of time... no one...i check this forum pretty much everyday and it took me a while to pick up on the id shift...
I used to be a journalist and that's my take.
plus, i think that the reason why fb/bf made all those cool posts is that he was just having fun with the fans. if he really wanted to make it a news story he would have his ad/pr people have a press release or reveal it in an interview...

Maybe that's the genius of it all. It's like almost like "Miracle on 34th Street." Only the fans "believe," and all those who believe will benifit in the end. |

By the way, does anyone know how to pronounce Grand Duchy? (I think I have the "Grand" part figured out.) I've been saying it like it's "Dutchy." But maybe it's like "Dookie"? That makes me laugh. |
