There's a new Bryan Ferry LP out in March, of Dylan covers. Also, new Smog album (under his real name, Bill Callahan) recorded with Neil Michael Hagerty. Yummy.

- Kristin Hersh (brilliant new solo album released in about 3 weeks, second record of Appalachian folk songs might follow later in the year...)
- Rob Crow solo "Living Well" (released last week), also Other Men (a sort of resurrected Heavy Vegetable, yum!)
- Zorn/Patton/Dunn/Baron ("Six Litanies for Heliogabalus")
- Tomahawk
- Breeders
- Schwarma or Blue Finger or whatever it's going to be
- Grinderman
- The Dillinger Escape Plan
- Unsane

Didn't know about Callahan though, thanks for the news D!

I'm currently listening to Arcade Fire's Neon Bible.

I have no new album expectation for 2007, I only hope to see some good shows (FB?)

I bought Klaxon's new album this morning. I am surprisingly impressed by it. It's quite good.
I've heard the new Shins album. It's alright. No Oh! Inverted World, unfortunately.

And finally, it's not that I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm quite wary of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's new album. I've heard nothing of it and I'd like to keep it that way until I have it, I think.

Norah Jones tomorrow, and Lucinda Williams next month. For a couple months, I'll forget completely about the existence of one Frank Black, aka Black Francis, aka Charles Kittredge Thompson IV.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

-The Comas (April 17th)
-Enon (tour cancelled with Of Montreal because of "problems", but their myspace says they will be touring later in the year with their new CD)
-Autolux (new record slated for mid summer)

New Breeders would be nice also.

Only two things I can think of now, both from women named Mary:

New Mary Timony.
New Mary Weiss.

Mary Weiss is one of the singers from (60s girl-group) The Shangri-Las. Norton Records is putting out her new album, Reigning Sound are her backing band... I don't see how it's even possible it's not gonna be good.

I'm also gonna buy the new Kristin Hersh and if the New Pornographers indeed have something new on the way, I'll want that, as well.

Has there been any recent news about a forthcoming Breeders record? I remember something from last year about a recording session but nothing more.

The new Björk album has an impressive guest list: Timbaland on 2 tracks, Antony Hagerty (from ~and the Johnsons), Toumani Diabate, Konono N°1, drummer Chris Corsano (from Sunburned Hand of the Man among others), Brian Chippendale from Lightning Bolt, plus Mark Bell. Granted, her last album had Robert Wyatt and Mike Patton and it sucked, but for some reason I have high hopes for this one.

Jill Cunniff (formerly of Luscious Jackson) is putting out her first solo album Feb. 20, I just read. I'll definitely want that.

And just minutes ago I ordered the new EP, out today, by a group called Lavendar Diamond. I gave a little listen-listen to the MP3 up on their Matador page, thought it was awful pretty, and pulled out the credit card.

How many of these are based on good info, or is this just a "wish" list?

Like Desert Sessions and Dinosaur Jr. Wow? [EDIT] Sorry, the Dinosaur Jr. album is pretty well confirmed all over the place as coming in May.

While 2006 started out with a bang in terms of new releases by artists I like, I don't see all that much to look forward to in 2007. I'll definitely pick up the new Magnetic Fields, New Pornographers, and Rilo Kiley albums, if they are indeed released this year. There are supposed to be two new They Might Be Giants albums, but the Johns have a bad habit of announcing release dates that don't come to pass.

Has there been any actual word of a new Frank album this year? I'll be surprised if there isn't one, but there doesn't appear to be anything on the news page about one. I guess the next one scheduled for release is the long-anticipated collaboration with Eric Drew Feldman?
