Resist the temptation. From what I've heard (three or four of them), these shows were all roughly the same. Buy one or two, and you'll be really pleased. More than that would be overkill.
And aren't you havin' fun? |

Well the Manchester one was excellent when I was there, and I hear it's one of the best discs too.

I've ordered Dublin, Reading and Manchester. I was meant to go to the Manchester one myself, at least I'll get to hear it now, just a bit late.

I've purchased quite a few shows, including 2 I was at, the early show in NYC on 12-18-2004 and Kingston-10-2005. The early NYC show is a fantastic set list including a great "Blown Away" and both versions of "Wave." The Raleigh show is high energy and the Indianapolis show is an alphabetical set list, if I'm not mistaken. The Paris show from 08-25-2005 is excellent as well. I'll chime in again as I am away from my precious live CD's at the moment. I hope this helped you out a little P-Stu. |

I'll wait until I get the three that I've ordered and if I'm happy with them (which I'm sure I will be) I'll probably get a few others like the one's you've suggested, Grunty.
Does anybody know how long this $10 disc offer is going to last?

I went to the Denver show, enjoyed it very much, and always enjoy the disc. A buddy recently gave me a copy of Cleveland, and it sounded like basically the same show, but with a slightly different playlist. The only thing that seems to differentiate these shows from one another is the commentary between/during the songs. They're such a tight band, and don't typically stray from the traditional arrangement. So different from FB's solo work.
And aren't you havin' fun? |

I travelled from Australia for the the Berkeley shows at the end of September 04, no sign of these on pixiesdiscs... anyone know if these shows were recorded and where I might be able to find them???
btw... I bought the boston disc thinking it might be a massive homecoming show for the band - very impressive audio but still no chat.

Unfortunately those September '04 shows were not recorded professionaly and that sucks because those were the shows where the band played Bam Thwok! |

FYI, that also sucked because I was at the first two of the three Berkeley shows and they were fine and it would have been great to have had professional recordings. I understand the third show, a Sunday matinee, was marred by technical difficulties. Nice to know I was in the presence of a well-guided Aussie. As it is, if memory serves, those two shows were booted, with one good recording of Bam Thwok surviving. The Berkeley Greek is a great venue, at least if the weather's adequate for outdoors, which it usually is the East Bay, though it did feature the highest beer prices I've ever encountered, what with $6US for a Bud, I think it was, or &7 for SF's own Anchor Steam, the upgrade being worth it.

Thanks for responses lads. Bugger! Didn't have much of a chance to get stuck into the beers at the shows, a couple of anchor steams early before pushing forward... they really need to put pissers down the front. Developed a taste for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in those couple of weeks too, nice brew!

I was at that show. What really fucking sucked is that the band, I don't think, had any idea that the sound was cutting out during almost every song for several seconds.
I heard afterward that they were letting some rookie run the sound board and they obviously didn't know how to handle the situation. I was seated near the sound board and every time the power cut out, they kind of laughed and threw their hands up. Very unprofessional and a horrible audience experience. They really should have stopped the show for a few minutes and sorted out the problem.
Or offered to give everyone their money back. A crappy experience, especially since I had bought tickets for some people so they could experience the Pixies live, and they got gypped.
