This list is pretty dead on! http://www.stuffmagazine.com/articles/index.aspx?id=1390&src=gp50 I notice a couple of Mexican entries on the list. Most Mexican beers share something in common with their water...they are both UNDRINKABLE. Drink responsibly or it's Montezuma's Revenge for you. HAHA! Too bad the list is just Top 10 Worst Beers, because we can add quite a few more. A couple that pops into my mind are Dos Equis (Our neighbors from the South know when to quit) and Michelob (The good ole' boys of the U.S. of A messed on this piss water). I wish they had a list for Top 10 Best Beers. We can all learn a thing or two from the Germans and Irish boys. Oye! |

There's only 1 actually, with which I must agree. Most Mexican beers taste great with salt and lime though.

One colorful word among 1,000 can be very effective. Dropping them in every sentence is juvenile. You don't have to be "old" to be annoyed by it.
(You're referring to the Stuff Magazine crap, not the Picasso sigs, right?)

Ah man, is Stella really that bad? I mean they are right that real Belgian beer tastes nothing like it but I'd have never thought it would make the shit list!
The Tecate entry is dead on though, putting a lime in that crap does nothing to mask the fact that it is completely tepid piss.

I've always found the idea of selling Stella as a fancy beer in the USA really funny. It's among the cheapest over here. I'm not saying it's bad (I hate fancy beers anyway) but people overseas probably pay it thrice its price. Same thing happens the other way round with the Corona which is insanely expensive over here.

i drink stella now and again, i think the reason most people drink it is because it's pretty strong for a lager (and that's why it's expensive.)

It was actually a bit of shock to go to Dublin and find them selling Budweiser at some of the pubs on tap, not the Czech Budvar but the American PISS! Definitely was not expecting that. And also I was surprised to find that while they're two of the most beautiful countries over there, France and Italy have some pretty shitty beers, most of which would easily fit that list.

Kronenbourg is my favourite. Stella isn't that bad, I don't drink it that often anyway though.
I'd put Carling in that list. I think it's too sweet, I know lots of people who disagree with me though.

I don't mind Stella for what it is and certainly wouldn't put it anywhere near a bottom 10 list.
I think the 'export' (they actually just have brewing contracts within other countries) is actually done differently than what is available in its place of origin. Which is not uncommon. Many US beers are actually brewed differently for Canada and many Canadian beers are brewed differently for the US and Europe.

Peroni is crap. I've tried it many times and it always disappoints. In France I remember trying the 1664 stuff which someone told me was made by Kronenbourg, if thats true then it was crap as well! I'll stick with the wine in those territories.

I dig Stella because it's what Budweiser ought to taste like. At any rate, come to Colorado and taste the microbrews here. Many of them are better than any of the major beers around the world. Not trying to be provincial or anything, but there are so many great small beers here. I read that American microbrews are beginning to show up on tap at foreign pubs, and that's good. It's one thing this country ought to be proud of.

Haha, Pabst Blue Ribbon reminds me of Blue Velvet.
I really went off Budweiser a few years ago. It's just too bloody fizzy.

I thought Coors tried to strong arm everything out of the beer market there in Colorado. Do they still have that law where you can't buy any booze over 3 point something percent after 7 pm? Couldn't beleive that.

I don't know of any law like that, HJ. It's true, though, that you can't buy full-alcohol beer (or a car) on Sunday, but you can get 3.2 beer at the grocery store all the time. As for Coors, there is plenty of it around here, and the baseball stadium is named for it, but I think the company's presence has been good for the beer industry here. Oh, and the beer is free at the factory in Golden, which is about 20 minutes from my house. When it's free, it actually tastes pretty good.

Floop will be proud to know that I think I kinda like some beers; I prefer beer to wine so far. But yeah, here in Utah, all the beer is around 3% alcohol by law. You can buy 80 proof liquor at the State Run Liquor Stores; is that pretty standard percentage for your vodkas and gins and rums?

I've hung out in Utah a bit, friend lives in Park City. When we'd go out there we'd haft to bootleg all kinds of booze for him. Cases of $2 UpChuck and such. If you want a good commentary on alcohol purchasing in Utah watch the movie SLC Punx, they break it down as far as how you haft to get the good stuff. It's pretty fucked.

Agreed. Bud is no more than a ballgame beer.
Last night i went to the Peculier (that's really how they spell it) Pub in NYC, known for its hundreds of beers, and i got a shitty beer called the Golden Monkey. It was a Belgian-style brew but wasn't very good. However, my friend Kathleen got some beer that is 14% (!!!!!) alcohol, and it tasted like death. It was so bad i actually dry-heaved after taking a sip. It makes moonshine taste like Coors.

I've had Golden Monkey and you're right, it sucks. Beware of any beer with the words "Belgian Style" on the label, it basically means it's an American half ass version of the real shit. Fat Tire claims "Belgian Style", I thought it was an okay beer for a while and then it just started tasting like ass. This Belgian thing seems to be the latest beer fad.
