I saw Wilco play last night in Fort Worth,TX. I think they are great live. They are all very talented musicians. It was a fun show. I got to meet the band, besides Jeff, after the show and they are all such nice guys. They spent a long time talking to everyone and were very gracious.

Did anyone else go to the Wilco show in Fort Worth or have anything to add about Wilco live? This has been a great week. I got to see Frank Black on Monday in Dallas and shook his hand and then saw and meet Wilco last night. My band is playing on Saturday. I hope this week continues to ascend to one of the best weeks ever.

I had to miss the Wilco show last night in FW, and have been pissed off about it. I saw them play last fall in Dallas at the Granada, and it was a great show...excellent crowd, amazing sound, just lots of fun all in all (plus it started and ended so early that I got to drive down to deep ellum in time to see My Morning Jacket at the gypsy tea room: all but about 3 songs of it!).

They are really good, especially the guitarist Nils someone or other I think? Also, Jeff made it seem so easy. Was it general admission or reserved last night?

Also, plug your band! Are you guys playing in Dallas? If so I may be able to make it.

I think Tony saw them on every stop of the tour. I could be wrong though.

Nels Cline. He's quite the addition to the band. He has a long and diverse resume (from jazz to Mike Watt).

I wish I will see them one day, but they're not touring very often round here, I guess that's because they're not very popular in France.

Nels is alright at the noisey stuff, but he can't do shit on the country-er tracks. Tweedy should replace him with Marc Ford, the dude who was in the Black Crowes. I think he'd provide a much fuller, complete sound to most of the songs.

I humbly disagree (though I've never listened to Wilco, with or without Cline). Have you heard his works with Carla Bozulich?

Former Geraldine Fibbers leader. She does half alt-country, half experimental improvised stuff and everything she does is brilliant IMO. Anyway she's worked quite a lot with Nels Cline, he played on the GF's second (and last) album, on most of her solo stuff, and they formed a band together called Scarnella. In 2004 she released "Red Headed Stranger", a song-by-song cover of the Willie Nelson record, on which Cline plays (and Nelson too), and it's absolutely stellar. I saw the Fibbers in concert in '97, with Nels, and he kicked ass.
There are a bunch of songs on her website:

Nels plays (at least) on Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain, Death by Northwest, and the "Butch" tracks. Tell me what you think of it.

Nels is hands down my favorite living guitarist. Also one of the nicest guys alive.

Saw them again last night...great show, but too packed to really enjoy it that much. Nels was amazing, especially on the bluegrass song they played. I really like the album Sky Blue Sky after it soaked in for a few months. Also, several of their versions of older songs were tweaked in a great way...not just the normal album versions. I think Tweedy's guitar playing is showing a giant influence from Nels as far as the style he tries to employ.
