I haven't had my metal head on for ages, but I would still love to see Metallica. They rock. Also Kyuss, heaviest band ever. Megadeth also.

Um... the one with High Speed Dirt on it would do you. I'm sorry, I'm not a massive fan,I just like the occasional blast. It's fun to play along to.

Yeah!!! Goblin Cock are great--much better than the cover art would lead you to believe, anyway.
(or should I post the uncensored version?...)

Holy, would the old man like this thread. I bought him tix to see Megadeth last year. They let him hang out with Dave Mustaine after the show. They talked about hockey!

I would say "Leviathan", but then I'm still waiting for my copy of "Blood Mountain" :)

Blue Oyster Cult... I never get tired of their first four albums.
Sabbath is up there too, of course.

Dio. Listen to "The Last In Line" and tell me you don't see fire pots blazing and a drummer spinning his sticks in your head. Dio used to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid. Now it's pretty funny. Lately, I'm scared of Nickelback and emo/screamo. |

You can't beat Metallica's golden period (Ride, Puppets, Justice) for wonderful musical inventiveness and virtuosity.

one that hasn't been mentioned is ISIS. sure, they've mellowed out a bit these days, but their earlier records were pure metal. now they're just fantastic. go buy Panopticon right away.
they're on tour with tool at the moment and while i'd say they share similarities with tool, they're very different, and imo far superior to tool.

well i'm not a fan of tool at all. can't stand their music.. but isis i find very good. but thats maybe because i've become a fan of isis via mogwai who they also have toured with and share similarities.
i'm curious to hear what songs you have heard from isis......

i was big into metal in high school. earlier metallica stuff, maiden, priest, tool. don't listen to it much anymore though...the mrs really isn't to fond of that genre. my brother asked me to go see slayer this summer but i politely declined.
since frank has always done so many different types of projects i always thought he may do a metal album one day. (some songs on trompe le monde aren't to far off) he could totally pull it off if he wanted to.

Countdown To Extinction is the one you're thinking of Cheeseman..... Rust In Peace is even better, and 'Mechanix' (which Metallica turned into 'The Four Horsemen') is probably the most "metal" song I've ever heard.

I am an unashamed lover of metal/rock/or whatever the hell you want to call it. Without getting too fussy over genre specifics the following are bands that I adore. It's a fairly long list and by no means comprehensive, but it give you an idea:
Baroness Big Business Bongzilla Boris Botch Cave In Cavity Clutch Coliseum Converge Coalesce Corrosion of Conformity Dillinger Escape Plan Doomriders Earth Electric Wizard Eyehategod Facedowninshit Faith No More Fantomas Fu Manchu Goatsnake Helvis Intergrity Iron Monkey Isis Jesu Karma To Burn Karp Keelhaul Knut Kylesa Kyuss Lamb Of God Lightning Bolt Lords Mare Masters Of Reality Mastodon Metallica Minsk Morser Mr Bungle Nailbomb Nebula Old Man Gloom Painkiller Paint It Black Pelican Scissorfight Slayer Sleep Snowblood Soilent Green Sourvein Systral The Bronx The Fucking Champs The Melvins The Ocean The Swarm The Sword These Arms Are Snakes Yakuza Yob
Lead me not into temptation; I can find the way myself. |
