Stumbled upon the following website today after the webmaster sent me a MySpace message for having Frank Black listed under my favorite musicians:
http://mog.com/frank_black
It seems to be a similar concept to MySpace, only more geared towards music.
Seems legit to me.
What really caught my attention was Frank's digital music collection. Check out what he has under his own name:
"Demo for pixies"
This folder contains the following three track names:
"0. dowhatuwantgyaneshwar 14. El Rey De Hawaii 15. Storm"
"Gyaneshwar" is, of course, a song Frank just debuted with his new live band.
There also appears to be a song called "Oh Oh I'm Falling in Love" included with the unmastered Honeycomb songs.

It's weird, isn't it. There are enough signs there that it is the man (definately someone very close to him perhaps), but then again there's enough information on the 'net for us mere mortals to be able to imitate him.
weird, indeed.

Do you think the the disc simply entitled 'Fastman Raiderman' was the so called 'Ken's Choice' tracklist? Anyway, that doesn't matter so much. I like the sound of those new Pixies songs.

more info:
quote: Oct 4 2006 17:15 Subject: i noticed you were on Frank Black's friend list... Body: Hey,
I'm working for a new music website called MOG, and since you're listed as a friend of Frank Black (of Pixies fame), I thought you'd want to know about his brand new page at http://mog.com/frank_black.
It's pretty different from what you get on his Myspace... it shows the actual contents of his music collection and has a blog where he posts about what he's doing. And when he listens to music on his computer/ipod, it automatically shows up on his MOG, so you can see what he's really listening to.
Myspace is where Frank says "check me out" - MOG is where he says "check out what I'm into". Since you're into Frank's music, I figured you'd want to find out about his music collection, too.
MOG is on Myspace at http://myspace.com/mogdotcom. Send us a friend request!

I would bet my money that these are indeed the demos of the new Pixies songs (not the recorded with the Pixies ones, but the ones FB presented to them). Exciting piece of news three, and the great thing is Gyaneshwar is being toured.

Another Velvet Nightmare is missing so maybe this could have been the original title. I'll still believe it's a newbie in the hope of hearing another unreleased Frank gem. |

Can we reasonably assume that "Skipthispart" is a demo too?

Yeah, why not. One can never have enough frank Black songs through the ears, good or bad.
I'm intrigued why these "songs" are listed on the site when news of any Pixies demo is so hush hush/virtually non-existant.

I suspect it automatically logs what he's been listening to. As he is probably in the writing stage or has recently written them, he is probably listening a lot and/or maybe playing along with it to add parts of vocals. He probably doesn't even know at this point that it is showing up there.
He did write a post saying he was embarassed it showed him listening to his own stuff. :)

If Gyaneshwar is now a Frank song, that doesn't exactly bode well for new pixies material, does it? |

I wouldn't be so sure, really. He didn't seem to happy with the Pixies demos, so maybe he's been reworking them? |

Other than the article where Frank was saying his attempts at Pixies song sounded 'fakey', the main problem is Kim Deal not liking/wanting new material. I don't know about the rest, but maybe Gyaneshwar was shot down by Deal? |

It's possible. Or maybe he's just playing it with the band anyway because it's new, fresh, and he likes it. I guess we won't know until/unless a new Pixies disc comes out.

this mog thing is great. Lots of potential, I wonder if FB will keep up with it or get bored.
He has gotten much more open about what he listens to and that is cool. |
