i mean the "first person to post 10,000 in this thread times wins the US"
reasons for locking: (1) it "artificially" increases the post count and (2) it is useless.
my five cents: (1) who bloody cares ? (2) useless things still can be funny. or they are funny because they are useless, which makes them useful again.
and i was determined to win the US. but of course, the admin is the admin and the site owner is the site owner. they do whatever they do.

The thread could have been moved to the Pong section, to solve #1 and where #2 doesn't matter anyway. |

I suspect you're making complaints two reelers for the sake of it. Are you still bitter about your other cross posting threads getting locked hmm?
It was locked under the same principle that a lot of threads were locked. The list threads have gone now and that one was overlooked. When a person posts eight or nine self indulgent posts in a row it's just an excercise in posting for postings sake.
Either way, get over it. |

locked threads should be renamed to threats and further, they should be subject to controlled blasting.
and from now on, please, absolutely no handluggage allowed in topics.

It wasn't a very good game, anyway. Can I still have America?

You guys are funny. I mean it sincerely. No, I do really. Have you seen the Kids In The Hall where Dave Foley can't help but sound sarcastic because of his voice, despite his sincerety? I think my post here kind of looks like that. I am laughing for reals, especially at Carl's comment.
I happened to also laugh at the artificially increasing post count part of Dean's explanation. Like it's cheating.
However, any reason Dean would have given would have sufficed for me. That thread was an eyesore. It wasn't funny 'tall. Busseffer that's jes mype inyun.
OK, now I am smiling at biscuitdoughhead's comment. Smiley smile wild honey.

What good is being an admin if you can't capriciously close eyesore threads with flimsy excuses now and again? :P

Maybe the whole What Ever Happened To Pong? forum should be locked.

Speaking of moderating, shouldn't this be in the site discussion/suggestion area? It'd be its first post in months! Or maybe I should make this suggestion there. Or stuff.

I had explained to two reelers in a personal email that we delete certain threads to cut down on our limited bandwidth, especially those threads that just artificially inflate post count. He's just upset that i locked this thrice-triple posting threads. Oh well, be a man about it.

I miss the generic movie thread. People would often mention there things of passing value that they would not, and will not, open a new thread for, so the value is lost. I enjoyed commenting on the great old movies I catch almost daily on the TCM channel. Though I realize one objection offered is that folks would not be reading the thread as an entirety, I for one did benefit from following it as it went along.

yeah me too. i don't think deleting that thread has helped movie disscussion. although i suppose there have at least been a few lately.
of all my threads that were locked, i'm most sad about "this topic will suck" being locked. but then, in a way, it does cement it's suckiness for eternity. which makes me happy

Since, technically, the "beautiful women" thread was deleted and not locked, my request is impossible. So bring on the beautiful hunks. |

The 100000 topic thread wanst that funny anyeay. But there are some of the locked threads i wish were still here like the 'what's on your mind right now' thread. That was good for just stuff that wasn't worth atopic but tou thought you might aswell mention anyway. I liked it. Bang bang!!! and the general movies thread was good but it might be better wuth a single topic for each new film i'm not quite sure what i prefer yet yet. bang Bang!!

Seriously. I could talk about John Garfield and Edward G . Robinson and Lionel Barrymore and George Zucco and Lionel Atwill for weeks on end. But I am pretty freaking stupid too. TCM is [b]the[/i] reason to own a TV in the states, at least as far as fictional entertainment is concerned.
EDIT: Yeah, TCM is so "THE" that I opened it bold and closed it italicized. Oopsy. Will leave it cause it's funny.
