In my opinion. I have not enjoyed a Frank Black album like I do these days since Teenager and Devil s Workshop... As I travel a lot I go deep into the èusic and it s a damned huge and good album. Sound and songs are beautifull, lyrics are meaningfull.
If you are 25 or so, go for it and try to do your own Teenager of the Year (that`s what I do) if not just let Frank Black be free and release his mature and high quality albums.
Gros bisous

I love FMRM but since all his albums are so different, I think it's hard to compare them. However, it's one of my favorite albums of all time (including the other FB albums too) |

I really like FMRM.
If you made a graph that charted Frank's sound, from Pixies to present, there would be no significant spikes anywhere. Some people act they have been stuck with a branding iron when they talk about the nashville stuff. But the man has led us to his current sound like a basket of eggs.
On the other hand, Frank has to expect some backlash from his community of Pixies fans who probably feel like some one just turned their favorite strip joint into a church.
If Frank wasn't so good at making music (like me, for example) he wouldn't have these kinds of fan problems. I wish I had fan problems. |

I was thinking of taking Dog In The Sand out for dinner and a movie. I'll report on any developments.
Due to my present condition and predicaments of being a crippled as a result of the fatal accident that I had, I am not able to carry out this contract because I can only walk on a wheel chair. |

lol funny thing is after listening to FMRM, I went back to honeycomb. And now I like honeycomb even more, maybe more then most of the early stuff. I really missed the point of honeycomb the first time around, I wasn't in the right headspace for it. Now I can't find a flaw.

It's pretty good. Up there with Pistolero!
Sorry Jon, I know you didn't produce that one :)
But definitely top 5 FB, and moving up the charts! |

If the first cd would be as good as the second it would be my favourite Frank release; now I'm not quite sure. |

I think FB has really hit his stride starting with DOG IN THE SAND and now FASTMAN RAIDERMAN is absolutely amazing. As much as I love the Pixies and FB's early work, I always felt like I was being kept at an arm's distance. The new material (especially SHOW ME YOUR TEARS, HONEYCOMB, FASTMAN RAIDERMAN) feels much more warm and inviting (and relevant to where I'm at today). Maybe I'm just getting old, but I think FB is making the best albums of his career. |

As long as FB keeps making music, I'll embrace middle age and beyond. I'd pay to see FB onstage, playing the spoons while relaxing in a rocking chair. It's just amazing the direction he has gone in. While other seminal artists are struggling to find themselves, FB has never looked back. |

"In the Time of my Room": great song. Otherwise, I just don't get it... But having been a listener for nearly coming up on 20 years, I know his sound will change and pull me back into the fold. I can't wait, too... But! I'm glad everyone else seems to be enjoying FMRM. I'm jealous that I don't feel connected to the music. but at least I can live vicariously through you all! |
