hey guys, saw Rich at full moon saloon last night.
He confirmed he'd be playing Wednesday night after Frank's show at Robert's Western World, 10pm - 2am
the band will take a break or two, during which we can enjoy a cold beer and great FB&TheC stories with one of our heros

I borrowed a digital camera for the show (I still prefer cameras with film...the old-fashioned way). I'm ready now!! |

Countdown to Frank-Time, Day 3:
Hey kfs, wonder if thedude is going to be at the show. Remember him, he's the one that filmed "Sing for Joy" and "Goodbye Lorraine" last year when Frank was solo electric. Those are great videos to watch.
I'm going to video some of the show with my relatively cheap and not-so-new hp digital camera. It's got a video mode to it AND I bought a 1GB memory card that is suppose to hold 127 minutes of video. But, you never know about those "Ghosts in the Machine".

Yeah, CoffeeCan, I remember thedude. I stood right next to him at the AMA Show. I think he was even MORE in awe than I was, if that's possible! I have no doubt he'll be there if he's still in the area.
I don't know why more people don't post pics from their shows...I think I've convinced Mr. kfs to carry the "film camera" for a few Black & Whites. That should be cool.
My plan is to abstain from any FRANK music all day today and tomorrow so I'll be extra enthusiastic for the show Wednesday. Not sure if I'll make it that long though! |

oh yeah, old school black and white photos are very nice.
So, where are we going to hook up at?
How 'bout the Mercy Lounge parking lot? Its big, its free, it would keep us close to the show, and its a helluva place for a pre-show tailgate party!
I'm thinking football, frisbee, frank music, food, and coolers of beer. Sound like a plan to you guys? (misterwoe, you and I can still go to Jack's BBQ at 6pm if you want to, or we can eat before we meet, either way is fine with me)
Then, after Frank's show we can head on down to see Rich play if you guys can stay that long.
Just a little sompin, sompin to think about for after Frank’s show (Rich at Robert’s Western World, Oct 4, 10pm to 2am and Jen is playing at the Bluegrass Inn, 8:00 pm-12am
These are from my achives, circa Spring of 2005:
JenJones&Cameros with Rich Gilbert and Steve Latanation
Joshua Black Wilkins at Mercy Lounge (2005) with Rich Gilbert, Steve Latanation & Scott McEwen

Yo, Boss, I see you took my advice and booked yourself an "in-store" at Grimeys! OCT 4, 6PM PRE-SHOW IN-STORE AT GRIMEYS
Hey Boss, props to you for your most recent successes and thanks for the extensive touring.
Notice of your Salem, Oregon shows at Guitar Castle gave me a great idea for your Nashville show on Wednesday, October 4th.
Make a phone call (either from yourself, Billy Block, or I’d be happy to) to Mike Grimes (Grimey), owner of Grimey’s Record Shop and schedule yourself an in-store show for the afternoon of October 4th.
He’s a big fan of yours. His in-stores always get good attendance. Your Mercy Lounge show that night gets free publicity (Grimey’s does a good job of advertising their in-stores), and you’ll sell a lot of tickets to the show and FM/RM cd’s as a result of your in-store.
By the way, I’ve got some more ideas for you. I’ll post them up here soon.
P.S. Our boy, Bobby Bare, Jr. will be doing his Grimey In-store on Tuesday October 3rd at 6:00 p.m., wanted to give you a heads-up if you can make it. Hey, I'll have to take my kids to this In-Store (they love Frank's music), so, I'll see you guys at the in-store and afterwards I'll take my kids home and meet you guys back at Mercy Lounge for the show.
Then, after the Mercy lounge show we can go see Rich play.

You lucky dogs, you! An in-store show. How cool!
Now, this program of yours could only be improved if Frank would open for himself solo at the Mercy Lounge like he did in Tempe a few nights ago. With a crazy rarity set or so. Otherwise it's perfect. I mean there's even Rich Gilbert that night waiting for those who are still up to more.
Have a great time everyone and be sure to report back in this here thread. |

Oh my God. Yes. How close is Grimey's to the Mercy anyway? Six o'clock? I'll probably be a few minutes late. How long do you think he'll play?

hey man, you don't want to miss a minute of this one, just leave extra early (as opposed to driving extra fast).
Simple directions: I-65 South to Exit #81 "Wedgewood Ave.". Wedgewood Ave west one block to 8th Ave South. Right on 8th Ave. Grimey's is 2 blocks down on right [1604 8th Ave. South,Nashville, TN 37203,PH: 615-254-4801]
Hey Kella, I'll say to hello everyone for you. I think that AltCountryBastard, JBW, will be in attendance...by the way, have you heard his new EP "PRETTY AS A JUNKYARD". Produced by Rich, Guitars by Rich. Check it out, 4 of the 5 songs in their entirety: http://www.myspace.com/joshuablackwilkins
"Make Sure I'm Dead" is my favorite currently. Joshua wrote it in the studio while recording the other songs. Rich bends, twists, and otherwise contorts the hell out of his fender on this one!
Joshua Black Wilkins should be opening for Frank Black, but, no one asked me, did they...

!!!!!THE SHOW WAS WONDERFUL!!!!! I missed the Grimey's appearance because the other 4 people in my group couldn't get it in gear and we were running late. I was very disappointed. I heard it was cool. CoffeeCan made it to Grimey's & I'm sure he'll fill us in.
I got lots of good pictures. I'll be getting those up soon.
The opening act was one-man-band Kentucky Prophet.
I did get to meet CoffeeCan and misterwoe...both were very cool fellas. I met a fan named Melissa. She wasn't familiar with this website but plans to join us soon! Misterwoe, CoffeeCan, and I all got our very important right up front positions at the stage. The stage was about 3(?) feet high.
I had the presence of mind to take a picture of the setlist taped to the floor. Otherwise, I would never have been able to remember it all. The show started with FB (looking trim and healthy...no glasses, black eyeliner...wearing black shoes, gray or black pants, black button-up shirt with thin black stripes, and a black jacket) solo acoustic. I think he started with "Cactus." He also did "The Water." Right now, I can't remember which other songs he did in this section. I was too busy thinking how totally cool it all was. Every single song I heard tonite was performed perfectly.
More to come... |

more...... 7. Ten Percenter 8. Nadine *These guys really put on a GREAT show!!!! The sound couldn't have been better. They all looked like they were having a lot of fun. Billy Block, on drums, smiled a lot. Duane Jarvis on lead - RED guitar, he was kind of flashy. I think he enjoyed having his picture taken, too. And, of course, EDF on bass...CoffeeCan & I met him right before the show. He seemed very calm and was friendly when we approached him. He chatted with us for about 10 minutes. He seems like a really SMART guy, you know? *In the middle somewhere, we got to hear this mysterious new one...GYANESHWAR (sp?).I simply cannot adequately express how TOTALLY COOL this song is!!! OH MY GOD!!! I LOVE IT!!! You guys have GOT to hear this one ASAP! |

Hey Kelly, what a night, huh! It was great to see you, Mr kfs, and misterwoe (Greg), also all those many, many other fb fans at the shows tonight
I look forward to your pics and posts. I've got some things to tend to: family, work, sleep, and then I'll commence documenting our Frank night.
Craig? He was on the shakers wasn't he? Can't remember his last name now, but we'll get it.

I know...it's on the list but they didn't actually do that one or Dirty Old Town, if I'm remembering correctly.
