And why would you buy movies for your PSP? They still cost about twice as much as DVDs, and you can only play them on your 4" PSP screen. How lame is that?
Chain Reaction for PSP is $29.99 on bestbuy.com. The DVD is $8.99. Not to mention that movie sucks. |

I bought Bill & Ted for $15! The sound on it is so quiet I have to put my ear up to it to even understand what they're saying. I should have just bought it on DVD. That's one of the reasons I sold it.

Yeah, it's still quiet though. And it wastes the battery quickly to have it up to where I can hear it.

Heh, that was my other choice when I was thinking of getting a PSP. My sister has one and I have to say it's way better than the PSP. I should have known it was good when they remade Mario 64.

I have Mario Kart (obviously), Worms and Bomberman, but my flat mate has a few others, including Metroid.
Go on Pillsbury Dough Boy, you know you want to.

Animal Crossing looks great. You sound like you're trying to sell one to me...and it's working... Everyone seems to be selling them with Mario Kart on ebay, and I've heard it's a good game.

How does the wi-fi work? For PSP I could never find a wi-fi spot. Is it the same for the DS? I was just looking at a DS wi-fi site and it found a lot of places near me with wi-fi. For some reason the were all McDonald's.

I just got my Creative Zen mp3 player in the mail a few days ago, and it's great. I would like to watch videos on it though... I should have got the newer one. There was a bonus, since it was used, it had Surfer Rosa, Come On Pilgrim, Doolittle, and the B-Sides already on it, which saved me some time. It had like, 2000 songs on it, though, so I had to do some heavy deleting. I got it down to about 700 songs, then added most of my albums, which brought it up to about 1000.
Remember when I used to have good sigs? No? Well, screw you! |

The one thing I do really like about Zune is the wireless sharing. I, once upon a time, was thinking of getting some fellow engineers together to do just that. You can share your songs and give other users a limited taste. The musicians get more exposure and word of mouth, the labels generate more interest in their stuff, and the listener gets to try before they buy.
This has always been my perception of the way the information age would shape music.

There probably should be a thread for both of these, but, lets talk Wii and PS3.
The launches are close (Unless you're getting a PS3 in Europe. BAH!) and if it hasn’t already happened to you, giddiness may set in very soon.
Anyone here getting either/both of them?
(Please, no Wii puns. Unless Carl does them. He nails them suckas‘)

Well, I was hoping to have a Wii in a few wiiks, but I didn't get a presale one and I'm not one for lineups anyway. So probably not. I have no interest in the new PS personally.

I managed to get a deposit on the PS3 near the end of august. Due to the shop advertising the PS3 a little badly, i ended up getting the first deposit, YEAH! They told me i had first priority on one when it came in. YEAH! A week an a half later it was delayed till March. SHIT!
My original plan was to get the PS3 this November, then get the Wii sometime later next year. So i switched it around.
I spent some time tracking down a place where i could get a deposit on a Wii, and within two days of the PS3 delay i had got one secured. Needless to say i'm quite smug about it.
From what nintendo say, there should be plenty of available after the launch (Shipping 2 million before 2007) so you might get one yet.
(I tried hard to come up with a wii pun for this post. But i've failed, miserably)

Can someone tell me how you pronounce "Wii"? I've only read about it, so I have no idea how it's said. Is it like "why" or "wee" or what?

It's "we"
The Nintendo Corporate goons say: "Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii."
"It is simply Wii, not Nintendo Wii. It is pronounced "we", indicating its all-inclusive nature. The name works best at the beginning of declarative statements. For clarity, it is best to avoid passive verbs and prepositions."

Isn't Microsoft a little late in the game? Why do you need wi-fi? Can you access email or the internet? |

Windows Vista is supposedly the last big OS Microsoft will be making. That was where Microsoft made all those billions. But after Vista that they’ll only be making a very stripped down OS, which will be less profitable. Microsoft may see their profits go into slow-motion when that happens. So i get the feeling that Microsoft is branching out into different areas with the xbox and zune so that they can have their foot in the door for those markets when their OS market is starting to fade. Zune might be a latecomer, but Microsoft need it to be a big success.
Personally, I don’t want one. I’d rather have a 60gb mp3 player with no colour screen, no wifi etc, than an overpriced 30gb one that has those features
Has anyone used these rechargeable batteries: http://www.usbcell.com/
Are they any good? They look like a good idea...

That USB battery seems neat but how many things take only one AA battery? Seems lame in a way and if the thing you are powering uses 2 AA batteries, isn't 2 USB ports alot to take up on a computer?
Ha, this is funny: "No need for a separate charger or cables when travelling." Yeah you just have to have a computer with a USB port. Ok ok, I'll admit it's a cool idea.
It's strange how little I need double AAs anymore,now that I don't use a walkman. |

On Wii: I want!
On PS3: Nice graphics, exorbitant price, I play those sorts of games on my PC. Definite pass.
On Zune: I really like the wireless sharing/preview feature. BUT I do not like: a) Microsoft. b) That they've made a deal with Universal that a portion of every sale goes to them regardless of whether I ever have a song of theirs on my 'Zune'. Bad precedent and I have no desire to feed the obese.

Red Steel reviews (The shame of it all) 5.0/10 78% 5.5
In other bad news, there’s been loads of wii failures reported after the US launch. Problems include: games freezing, constant disc read errors (the most common of all the complaints. Some DREs happen once, and only once, others prevent any games from working), sudden shut-down of the console, wiiconnect24 problems which cause the console to “die”, disc loading slot not working, failure to boot and sensors only working on one side of the sensor bar. Nintendo have said they will replace all faulty wii’s within two weeks, much like Microsoft did after some of the 360 problem experienced after launch. However, where around 10% of the 360’s at launch were faulty, the failure rate for the wii is 33%. Considering the Japanese and European launches are so close, it looks like it’ll be a worldwide problem.
On a slightly strange side note, Nintendo failed to highlight something about the wii itself. The disc loading slot doesn’t actually light up blue as they’ve been showing for the last year. Instead, the only time it lights up is when you turn it on(flashes), and when you use wiiconnect(constant) This caused many people to believe the blue light wasn’t working, when in fact it was just some kind of design change.
