I have heard many friends of mine and people in general sing the praises of RADIOHEAD. I almost feel obligated that I should like them, but sorry to say, I just find them unlistenable.
I believe they produce good music, but I just can't get my head around it.
Same goes for PEARL JAM.
Anyone else have this "problem" with other bands/artists...

98% of Modest Mouse
I don't understand it, but I know that Radiohead regularly comes up in these threads.

I used to really like Radiohead, but i've kind of gotten bored of them. The Eraser doesn't really interest me enough to buy it either.
I don't understand why people like Greenday. Better things have been displaced by dogs in parks.

All new punk bands. Panic at the Disco. Greenday. Fallout Boy, especially. And many, many more...

In the context that I find Radiohead to be an anomaly. There is a template there where a lot of people who like the same music as me include Radiohead near the top of their lists. There seem to be so many people who get so much aout them. Even the way they describe their music and the effect it has on them is appealing to me.
Unfortunately the real thing is lost on my ears. I gave it a shot and it didn't work. I just find it to be such hard work listening to them. Should I give them one more try? I don't know...

yeah, Radiohead.
also, Janes Addiction- I thought I would really like them, and a couple of their songs are really good, but the rest sounds the same to me; same for Porno for Pyros.
same thing with Modest Mouse, even after driving around with that album for a while, it's still only the two singles that I really like. |

Yes, you are supposed to like some Jane's Addiction. their first 3 albums from the early 90's contain some awesome songs. Pigs in Zen, Ted Just Admit It, Whores, I Would and 3 Days for starters. Although everything since Ritual/1993, licks sac.
I never liked the Arcade Fire

When I saw the name of the thread I immediatley thought Radiohead, I like some of their stuff, I think Electioneering is a great song, and Just as well, but other than that I tend to find them boring

I have been very aware of them since the early-mid 1990's. I bought Pablo Honey when it originally came out (which I thought was reasonable at the time) then dabbled with the next 3 or 4 including Bends, OK Computer, Iron Lung, etc. I think I basically gave up around Kid-A. Have not heard Amnesiac or Thief, nor bothered with Eraser either, yet...

I just thought he meant bands that a lot of people like. I don't read very carefully most of the time.

The Cure. I enjoy their singles, but I've never felt inclined to get any album.
I don't think I like Robert Smith or his voice, particularly. That might be why.

The Fall, Fantomas, Joy Division, Captain Beefheart, Television.
And I don't get the Guided by Voices thing. An average band, in my opinion.

Now that I understand the question:
The Smiths. I just don't like his voice. The Arcade Fire. They have a few good songs, but "Funeral" is terrible. Death Cab For Cutie. Actually, no. They pretty much have 3 good songs. The rest is crap. I had another. I can't remember...
And I used to sometimes try to catch her, but never even caught her name... |

I liked Greenday during thier early years, I think Dookie is a fantastic album, wherever or not you think it's Punk is besides the point. However one band i've never been able to enjoy is Black Sabbath. I'm aware they have some great songs and are highly influential, yet I just can't stand listining to any of thier stuff.

No certainly not. Nearly every song is way too long and sounds the same as every other song.
