LOS ANGELES, CA -- On August 8th Shout! Factory
releases the original motion picture soundtrack to the
hilarious new comedy Accepted. The Animal House meets
American Pie movie, directed by Steve Pink (writer of High
Fidelity and Grosse Pointe Blank), follows the college
adventures of Justin Long (The Break-Up and Dodgeball)
as Bartelby Gaines. The 14-song soundtrack features
Weezer’s “Holiday,” The Hives’ “The Hives - Declare
Guerre Nucleaire,” Modest Mouse’s “Gravity Rides
Everything” and more. The Accepted: Original Motion
Picture Soundtrack will be available for the suggested list
price of $15.98.

In Universal Pictures’ Accepted, Bartleby ("B" to his
friends) has gotten nothing but rejection letters from the
colleges he has applied to and his parents are not happy.
In desperation, B and his similarly unlucky friends, played
by Jonah Hill (Click, Grandma’s Boy) Blake Lively (The
Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants), Columbus Short (Save
The Last Dance 2) and Adam Herschman, make over an
abandoned mental hospital, convince an uncle (played by
comedian Lewis Black) to pose as the dean, and South
Harmon Institute of Technology is born. On the first day of
"class," however, dozens of other college rejects show up
to enroll. B and co. forge ahead with their functioning--if
fake--university, but their effort to keep up the ruse
quickly escalates into a battle between the have-nots of
South Harmon and the have-snots at a real university
nearby.

As students float down the Potomac (history class) and
practice body painting (art class) an eclectic mix of music
plays in the background. The soundtrack captures the
irreverent mood of the movie with songs ranging from the
Pixies’ anthem “U-Mass” and Le Tigre’s “TKO” to Ryan
Adams’ country-rock song “To Be Young (Is To Be Young,
Is To Be High).” The soundtrack features “Keepin’ Your
Head Up,” an exclusive track performed by cast band The
Ringers (music class). Also included are three previously
unreleased tracks by Bole 2 Harlem’s David Schommer,
and a “mash-up” of some of the film’s most memorable
lines.
