YouTube hits 100m videos per day

Internet video site YouTube has said its users are now downloading more than 100 million videos per day.
YouTube is the leading net video download site in the US, with 29% of the country's multimedia market, according to traffic monitor Hitwise.

The site specialises in short, home-made, comic videos but a growing number of pirated clips from mainstream broadcasters can be found also.

Last month 2.5 billion videos were watched on YouTube, the company said.

YouTube said that its videos account for 60% of all videos watched online in the US. It has almost 20 million visitors to the site each month, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

Videos are downloaded free from the site and the company is still working on developing advertising and other means of generating revenue to support the business.

MySpace, the social networking site popular with teenagers, has close to a 19% share of the market, according to Hitwise.

Yahoo, Microsoft's MSN, Google and AOL each have 3 to 5% of the video search market.

Yeah. Id never heard them before but I went along to the see them at my University because my friend got free tickets. I was really impressed and I ended up bumping into the lead singer when I went to take a leak. He seemed like a nice guy and I think I still have a Spinto Band sticker somewhere which he signed. Maybe it will be worth something one day.

If you're familiar with Mogwai, this is the sample used in the song Punk Rock, from Rock Action. The website I saw it on originally had a vote going, do you think he's on coke and alcohol, or horse tranquilisers. Either way, it's kind of cool, talking about the nature the of punk rock.

I actually have misinterpereted (spelling?) some In Flames lyrics once. I thought a song said "Pick apart the shoulder bones" then when I looked at they lyrics, there was nothing of the sort.
