People suck.
I feel like I'm at that stage where I don't want to have to put up with other peoples nonsense at gigs anymore. I'd rather be a softy than have to get pissy with morons. |

I've also noticed a general mellowing at concerts, and while part of me misses the excitement, the part of me that has had a broken collarbone for the last three years is really rather grateful. I recently saw the Eels at the ampitheater at the Minnesota Zoo, but felt safe going because I knew I had handicap seats in front, separated from the rest of the audience. The last time I saw the Eels at First Ave. it was pretty rowdy. This time people sat in their seats for the most part. Towards the end of the show some big drunk guy came down in front of me and my friends and was trying to get everybody else to "get down here and fuckin' party!!" I guess he didn't notice the fragile lookin' guy in the wheelchair with his arm in a sling... in the handicap section...where the drunk guy wanted everybody to "fuckin' party!!"

To me, the most sickening part of this story, is that Korn (at least until a day or two ago) has not issued a statement on the incident. How can you stand by and not say something to this poor guy's family? If i were in that band, i would be fucking destroyed right now with guilt. I've been to shows where bands have said "please calm down, you're hurting people." That should be the norm, not the exception.

At a Smashing Pumpkins concert over here some years ago, a girl was killed when she was crushed against the barrier at the front of the stage. The band actaully considered splitting up because of it.

When FB&TC came to South Dakota, he actually stopped about 30 seconds into I Switched You because the crowd was getting too violent. He kindly asked the crowd to relax a little so nobody got hurt, then played Speedy Marie.
